Michael's Riverside — Restaurant in Lyndhurst

On 11/20/21 I celebrated my 50th bday Lots of work and planning went into this event Michael the owner was very welcoming on the day we met to see the place and give the deposit After that we met one other time to pay the final balance and pick the food or menu for the party His mannerism and attitude totally change after he collected full payment Let me start by saying on the day of the party he had us remove a wall I rented and pay $400 it was supposed to be decorated with balloons solely to decorate and for the purpose of taking pictures His Delivery was so RUDE! He indicated if you don’t remove the wall I will call the police !!! For a person who has been in business for so long He lacks communication skills It was the day of the party and at the point what could I do but removed the wall and proceed with the party I should have known then this was the 1st red flag The party ended at 11:00 pm The guest headed home With the exception of the Dj who was working on bringing the music booth and set up down etc I felt since it was my party I would stay there till he was totally done Along with my boyfriend , My bother n a cousin To my suprise and schocked shortly after the police was called he indicated we should have left the premises Keep in mind he never approached us to ask what was taking so long for the Dj to be done or anything like it No communication what so ever At that point since he had already collected payment he felt he could do what he please including being rude and nasty Very rude unprofessional and just plain wrong Prices are cheap But Beware it comes with a hefty price !!! I would not recommend this place whatsoever If you are planning a party look else where Save yourself the frustration of dealing...

Recently had a surprise 50th Birthday party at Michael's for my husband. What can I say except this place is awesome. From the time I first came in to view this venue Michael was there personally to greet me and answer all of my questions. Made me feel like family on our first meeting. The private back room was more than sufficient enough for my party very elegant with its own entrance, bar and restrooms. He recommended a DJ at an amazing price and everyone told me what a great job he did after the party. Towards end of party the person that I hired for sweets table forgot the paper bags for my guest to take sweets home. I offered to pay Michael for some take out containers so my guest can take desserts home. He wouldn't hear of it and told one of the waiters to get me all the containers i needed no charge. It's been 2 weeks since party and still people are talking about what a great time they had at Michaels. His prices were very reasonable compared to other venues. The food fantastic. He's goes above and beyond to make sure your party is all you envision it to be and more. I would recommend it to anyone who ask and would have more parties there in the future. I absolutely LOVE Michael’s Riverside and highly recommend it for any event you might have. I have been to many events here (baby showers, bridal showers, a wedding, baptism parties) & have never been disappointed. We recently had my son’s baptism party here & it was amazing, as ALWAYS! Michael is so genuine and easy to work with. He communicated so professionally & made everything really easy for me, especially with me living hours away. The staff is always so friendly, kind, attentive & accommodating. They did a great job setting everything up that we dropped off. The food options are great & everything is absolutely delicious. They were so accommodating especially for the young kids in our family who are very picky eaters. They gave extra options of chicken fingers/fries & even pasta with butter. The sangria is DELICIOUS! All of our guests were very happy with everything (staff, food, drinks, the pretty room, patience with children dancing/playing).
