I was driving for Lyft late one night and got a ride going to Lynn. I overheard my passengers mention George’s Pizza as I was starving and had yet to have dinner and many other restaurants were either already closed or no longer taking orders. Plus, I was five minutes away from the restaurant so to avoid driving around for however long to find another place to eat, I called here. I wanted two cheese slices, a bag of bbq chips and a can of Schweppes Ginger ale. First, I was told they are no longer selling slices and they haven’t been selling them for the past couple weeks. I thought that was odd because I can order slices via their website, so this lead me back to square one. Where am I going to eat? I attempted to finesse the system and order via the website. I got a call ten min later telling me again they aren’t selling slices and that if I cancel the order I would se a refund in three to five business days. I was hangry at this point and hung up abruptly to figure out what I should do.
While looking up other nearby restaurants that were still open for the night, I get another call from George’s offering a compromise. They offered to make me a small cheese pizza minus the soda and chips. I guess, George would rather lose $5 on an order than process a refund. I complied with the suggestion because I had a liter of Poland Spring in my car and could always use that to wash down the dough, sauce, oil & cheese from the pie. I had placed my first order at 11pm on the website, but after all the mishaps and the late night dinner rush right before closing, I guess my finessed order got lost in the sauce. Literally.
I didn’t get my pizza until midnight after they turned off their lights and vacuumed their front door rug. I was frustrated because not only was I starving, but I now had to take an extended break from driving just to eat my food. My experience didn’t go as expected nor planned. Feeling forgotten, I grabbed the small cubed box from one of George’s employees as he handed it to me in the doorway. The wind startled my scarf as I stood outside on this cold late spring night.
I walked back to my car and placed the small box on my passenger’s seat while applying hand sanitizer. I used a napkin (that I had to ask for) to grab one of the slices. I wasn’t expecting the pizza to taste any good because it was cast into oblivion by larger to go orders and rushed; nonetheless, to my pleasant surprise, it was REALLY good. The slices were cut unevenly (which I like because I can play with my portions) and the cheese was melting off the dough that I almost burnt the skin off the roof of my mouth. It was worth it. Maybe that was the hunger talking. Maybe. Will I intentionally eat here again? Probably not, but it’s a good last minute late night spot. Lesson learned: Call to order and understand when they say they aren’t selling slices, but that should have also been updated on...
Read moreWhere do i start? I've been eating here at George's roast beef for almost eighteen years now, basically since I've been old enough to chew, and go to school, and i used to love this place, it was always a treat on the first of every month or when bills were right always made me happy.
That ideal changed today after my experience today. I've already had a horribly rough week with losing my friends, so my family wished to surprise me with georges today to try and cheer me up, the delivery for one came earlier than expected which is unnatural for them since its usually about a 30 minutes delievery, i recieved mine in half of that, which wouldn't have been a problem had the delievery driver not been rude to me, and in a rush. I receive my food and waited to eat it for a bit because i was working with electronics, after a while i eat one sandwich and the desert cake that came with my meal, which was a chocolate cake, and two roast beef sandwiches, and saw no issue..
Until i opened the box of my second sandwich, what did i find you might ask? Oh nothing too serious, just a one inch cockroach, crawling around from under the sandwich, when i saw it, i immediately knew how terribly betrayed i felt by an establishment I've trusted for almost eighteen years. Considering I ATE MORE THAN HALF THE FOOD BEFORE SEEING IT. It crawls out of the box and onto the floor, and knowing how dangerous roaches can be if left alive was rapidly stomped until exterminated, a few minutes was taken to process this and then we called them, professionally but firm. We all get told this isn't possible and have a 3 minute argument about a refund, however one was given, albeit AFTER the delivery driver was spiteful and ignorant with my mother. When returning the food despite picture proof provided to him.
Horrible experience and you lost multiple lifelong customers today, i still feel sick to my stomach even while writing this review.
One star simply because of the good memories.
Maintaining deniability isn't going to help, and you shouldn't try blaming longtime customers saying their houses are dirty...
Read moreGeorge’s always had the best food I have been ordering food for years and as a regular you can 100% tell the food quality has changed there is a big difference honestly it is so disappointing I have always valued quality and was willing to pay whatever their prices were for good food they are under new management and that has clearly gone out the window. The 1/2 and 1/2 dinner had 3 pieces of steak tips -_- the onions rings were inedible they used to be the best made fresh daily. The house dressing is completely different. their chicken was bland and not seasoned which is sad because George’s had the best chicken kabob in Lynn. their kabob wrap was so soggy it was inedible. the pizza was not the same it was so oily. The ketchup tasted like vinegar like it had gone bad.honestly I was a waste of 75+ dollars. the lady who answers the phone wanted to argue over making my wrap a dinner when I just asked because they had been doing that for years but under new management you can tell they don’t care about he quality or taste of the food or the service provided to costumers you can tell what they were really concerned with was cutting cost and making profits not realizing that the people who frequent it can tell the heart and soul of true George’s is gone. this is no longer a Greek place. This is an Indian run business now and they have ruined what George’s really stood for everything good is gone. Food tasteless, bland and cheap now it’s just overpriced badly prepared food and horrible costumer service won’t be spending money here again 75+...
