My family and I stopped by this restaurant on our way back from a weekend trip. We love Korean food and were excited to try this place. Since we were traveling with our family pet—a small puppy—we brought him inside in his travel bag due to the heat. He remained quietly inside the bag, asleep, and did not disturb anyone.
Shortly after ordering and receiving our drinks, my child’s food was brought out. At that moment, the waitress noticed the puppy in the bag and immediately said, “NO, NO, NO,” indicating that pets weren’t allowed inside, she said he needed to go out because cats or dogs can’t be inside. While I understand and respect a restaurant’s right to enforce their policies, her tone and approach were unnecessarily abrupt and dismissive. A polite, respectful explanation would have been more appropriate, and we would have completely understood—especially since we hadn’t asked in advance if pets were permitted.
I asked for the bill (we had ordered three drinks—two of which hadn’t even been touched—and my child’s meal, which we requested to-go). Unfortunately, the waitress didn’t have change, so I had to pay by card.
We’ve traveled to many places with our dog in his carrier and have never encountered such a rude attitude. He’s always kept inside the bag to ensure he doesn’t bother anyone, as we understand not everyone is comfortable around pets. In this case, we simply had nowhere else to leave him due to travel circumstances.
We ended up going to another Korean restaurant nearby, where we were welcomed warmly—even with the puppy in his bag—and received excellent service.
Customer service truly makes or breaks an experience. A kind and respectful conversation would have gone a long way. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to those traveling with pets, and I personally won’t...
Read moreGuessing ordered in an off hour since when I went to pick up my togo order nobody was there (called at 4 and picked up at 430). Called ahead and lady on the phone was very nice, English was very broken but was extremely polite and made sure we both understood each other. I got the spicy beef bulgogi (did see it in the menu but asked if they'd make it and she said yeah), friend wontons (she seemed to think wonton soup which made me think this too may not have been on the menu), and large order of kimchi.
Best thing about the quality of the food was the sticky rice which wasn't very sticky but was good. Absolutely not Chinese restaurant quality and was actually sticky. Bulgogi was beef and spicy and was great at first, after getting under the visible top layer it was nothing but mush. Which is about where that met the trashcan. Kimchi was subpar. Cabbage didn't taste bad but was also mush, radish wasn't great, cucumber was alright but largely mush, and bean sprouts weren't great and some were grey. The rest I didn't try since they're just not my thing. Finally the wontons were largely flavorless and accompanying dipping sauce made me gag.
In short wasn't great of even good. Service is only thing that was actually amazing. Was honestly surprised with how helpful she was. Outside of that will not be going back now or any time in the near or distant future. No pictures largely because wasn't worth looking at more than...
Read moreI have been to more than 30 Korean bbq restaurants all over America.
I rarely give a mom and pop kind of place a two star review (which is low in my standards), but I’ll have to rate this place a two star. Mostly based on the fact that this place is “sub-standard” among Korean barbecue restaurants.
The server lady throws looks if we ask the grill plate to be exchanged (even if it’s full of char) Refill of the industry standard appetizer dishes (which is typically free in all other Korean bbq I’ve been to) is not free. They charge you 4.99. Although the first set when you get there is free, the amount is absolutely pitiful. The first bowl of rice is free. The second bowl is 1.99. Food is sub-par. Hard to describe, you have to try to know.
Most importantly, all of this surcharges for rice and Banchan refills are hidden and they do not discuss the pricing with you.
Overall, in my opinion, this is a place that serves bad food but charge you extra. I would recommend you to spend the extra 20 dollars and get a better experience at GOGI 1055 if you’re in Louisville. (If you have 60 dollars for 2 for a meal, you have 80 dollars for 2...
