Update Eastern 2025 As you can see I enjoy Eddie Merlot's service and food but this brunch was unfortunately a miss for my son and I. The offerings were extensive and we were really excited about coming but the execution did not match our expectations. I don't think breakfast items are their strong suit. French toast was soggy and the breakfast potatoes were unevenly cooked. The Mac and cheese was dry and the salmon overcooked. I think the burners may have been up to high and drying out the items.

Enjoyed the lamb and the seafood. The banana foster was not great and to be honest the food needed added flavor so I did notice others adding salt and pepper at tables near me. But what was awesome and so consistent, The service. Phillip made us feel very welcomed and anticipated our needs. It's always great to see a good team that smiles and treats every table like it's theirs.

Of course I will be back, just not for brunch unfortunately. I have been in hospitality for over 20 years so I know things can just not be great all the time so I did not change my stars, just wanted to give a honest review about the brunch experience so it can be reworked.

Update - Bday 2024

It was a bustling place at Eddie Vs last night but they didn't disappoint. Only waiting a couple minutes pass reservation before we were seated. Erin was out server and she was a complete delight and rather entertaining! We had the charboiled oysters which never disappoint. Enjoyed the buratta and beefsteak, it was creamy, just could w used more balsamic (I know next time). My fiancé enjoyed the lemon chicken dish, so juicy #pause as he would say ykiyk lol. The ribeye was delicious and just the steak I needed at med rare plus, loved that cause he prefers medium so I had a few pieces to share with him...thx again Erin for that suggestion. We ended with complimentary chocolate covered strawberries and a glass of Prisoner for me and reposado tequila for him. Overall, awesome experience on a hectic holiday!

Everyone was extremely welcoming and accommodating. The host, Nicole, made for a pleasant first impression. We sat with Ana and she is extremely knowledgeable. I desired a buttery Chard and she gave a great recommendation. Added touch, Nicholas, the bartender, came to give me a taste of the wine prior to committing to a white. Now for the food...came for the charbroiled oysters and I was not disappointed. Closest to New Orleans (bread and butter on the dish was perfect compliment to the NOLA classic). Crab cakes with the corn relish, magnificent! Two perfectly seared crab cakes with a flavorful remoulade and oh that charred corn relish! We also had the calamari, it wasn't bad but it was simply a safe back up starter we simply didn't need. After all that we enjoyed the mixed grill, which was a great portion considering our previous courses. I preferred the Caesar salad that was paired with my partner's entree over the wedge I had. The wedge was beautifully presented but wasn't as rich as I am accustomed to so it lacked the zest but ii had a few bites with a piece of my partner's steak and it enhanced the flavor immensely. I would consider ordering it again but with a small medallion filet to accompany it. We closed with the lightest creme brulee ever. Not overly sweet but oh so fresh and properly chilled with thin sugary crust. Overall job well done and we will be back for bar faire at happy hour soon. Gotta sit with Nick next! Oh and let me not forget Andres, he presented all our courses with care and insight. We appreciate the full service. Definitely worth the commute...

On New Year’s Eve my mother and I had a reservation at this location for 8:30pm, upon arrival we noticed two other women waiting for seats in front of the hostess booth and when greeted they asked us if we had a reservation and when I said yes they told me there was a bit of a wait. The fact that you have to wait while having a reservation is beyond me, this obviously meant they over booked for that night, around 9pm we were seated and told by the hostess our waiter would be right with us. The waiter never came , the General Manager was actually the one who brought us the menu and asked us if we wanted something to drink, after ordering a few cocktails and eating an appetizer we were still waiting for someone to come and take our order, finally after we were done with our drinks one of the hostess walked by our table and I told her that we never had a waiter come to the table, she asked me “so you’ve been here for almost an hour and no one ever came to take your order?” I replied “a guy with a suit brought us drinks and an appetizer but he hasn’t been back to check on us” that’s when she went by one of the waiters and explained that there wasn’t a waiter assigned to our table the waiter said out loud “i guess I’ll just take them” not only was this unprofessional but who is training these people?? It definitely made my mother and I feel unnoticed and unimportant as guests of the restaurant. It was almost 10:00 when our food arrived, and although the food was delicious the service that we had received already just took our mood to another level. I hope you guys try to acknowledge all of your guests and give them better experiences than this because we will definitely not be back, and we will definitely not be recommending this restaurant to anyone we know. No need for a reply either I just want people to know what kind of experience we had there because it is...

Went for the Mother’s Day afternoon/ dinner. It felt very much like we were at the tail end and it was hours before the end. They ran out of lamb by 545. The menu posted online was missing multiple items at the actual buffet (shrimp Diablo pasta, chicken Marsala, cauliflower gratin, beautiful pictured red velvet cupcakes were swapped with a dry sheet cake). The vegetables and fruit did not look fresh and like they’d been sitting since the morning buffet. Everything looked messy for a 85/per person buffet. Tongs and serving utensils were missing. Items were not being replaced timely (Tabasco one one of the salads came out for the first time as we were grabbing dessert over an hour and a half after we arrived). The tuna was out when we went by multiple times. When I tried to get filet- they were out. They ran out of plates multiple times. I can’t necessarily blame them for the two people (or one person twice) who threw up in the dining room- unless it was for the food. The prime rib and filet were tasty. The carrot cake was delicious. Everything else was kind of meh and not worth $85. Based on this- I would not go back. For $85 I expected a cleaner and better buffet. And I just realized the vegetarian in my group ate a chicken dish because there was no identification on the pesto tortellini (which according to the website had chicken in it). No. I didn’t complain at the restaurant and that’s on me. But it was relatively busy due to being Mother’s Day. And I’ve been to many many Mother’s Day brunches and this was one of the pricier ones and also one of the worst. I would not recommend it at this price point (even with some of the more high end items- which they were not stocking timely or...

At Eddie Merlot’s in Burr Ridge, Illinois, my culinary journey commenced with a sublime bowl of King Crab and Corn Bisque, featuring luscious king crab, sweet corn, and a velvety cream base, topped with a delicate king crab garnish. It was undoubtedly the finest rendition of this soup I've ever savored. The next course presented Sweet and Spicy Shrimp—crispy, tempura-fried shrimp enveloped in a tantalizing sweet and spicy sriracha sauce, striking a perfect balance between heat and sweetness. The evening's pièce de résistance was an MS9+ Tarpoly Creek Ranch Australian Wagyu Filet Mignon, impeccably cooked to 140°, revealing a warm, pink center that melted in my mouth. This was paired with crispy tempura green beans and a creamy wasabi sauce that added a sophisticated kick. Choosing a dessert was a challenge, given the plethora of tempting options. Ultimately, the Carrot Cake claimed victory, a testament to Chicago eateries’ tradition of generous dessert portions. Dense and irresistibly rich, I could only manage to indulge in about 20% of the enormous serving. I capped off the meal with my signature Cappuccino—a flawless finale to an exceptional dining experience. Bravissimo indeed! My server, Bobby, was outstanding!

We were celebrating my husband’s birthday, it couldn’t have been better. When we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted very nicely. Our server, Stephanie, was very attentive, polite, personable, and made our whole experience top-notch. She said she was new at Eddie Merlot’s, only there for a few days; however, you would’ve never known this. She was very professional and considerate. This has always been our favorite restaurant, and we were very excited to get a reservation for his birthday. The bus person who cleaned the table afterwards and made sure that we had fresh water throughout our meal was excellent as well. Overall, all of the staff members at this restaurant deserve a high five! One additional comment, the presentation of our meal was absolutely beautiful. For some reason, the first photos I submitted were cut off. I’m trying to add one more to show how nice everything looked.
