I can’t say enough about this place. My husband and I were passing through Macon on our way to Savannah and were looking for a quick bite. We have gotten so tired of the usual BK, McD’s, etc. As we were about to settle for yet another mediocre fast food experience, I spotted this place. It was like the Heavens parted the clouds and lit the building up like a beacon. We pulled into the parking lot just as they were about to unlock the doors. We were greeted with friendly and welcoming smiling faces and the smell that only compares to walking into Grandma’s house on a Sunday after church (IYKYK). The spread was beautiful! Fried chicken, pork chops, smoked sausage, a plethora of sides, and of course, FGT! I chose the fried pork chop, smoke sausage, mac n’ cheese, and green beans with a biscuit. My husband got the Salisbury steak, hot wings, collards, and cabbage with cornbread. Every time we took a bite of something new on our plate we literally stopped and looked at each other and would say “OMG, you have to try this”. The food was so amazing. We carried our leftovers with us and were munching on them cold a few hours later and they were still delicious. As we were driving back to TN the next day, we stopped again because we knew they were going to have different options. Yet again, we were not disappointed. We left with our belly’s stuffed and still had enough food for another meal. This is our new “go-to” place. The only disappointing thing is that we don’t live closer. We can’t wait to go back! If you’re in the area, don’t hesitate to stop there. You...
Read moreThey need to cut thicker green tomato slices and not marinate them. Other places uses 1 green tomato per order and they cut the slices thicker. I like all of the meat choices, but they make squash casserole like broccoli casserole and you have to try the different veggies to see what you like. But they need to use plain flour for the green tomatoes fried instead of the tough chewy coating that they dip the ultra thin green tomato slices in. I love the fried zucchini, rutabagas, yams, sweet potato souffle, collards, turnips, mashed potatoes, potato wedges and macaroni and cheese. They use canned peaches for the peach cobbler and while it is delicious,it doesn't have many peaches in it and they need to heat up a can of peaches for adding extra fruit and juice to the peach cobbler and just charge for the extra peaches and juice so they don't have to go up across the board on prices or go down on the portion amount. If I had a family this place is fantastic for the half a pan or full pan of one item of food and you can get enough for your entire family or for a party. But I come here a couple of...
Read moreWalked in, two male workers tending the books and one female tending the drive through. The two males did not acknowledge my presence even when walking past me. Not even a "we'll be with you in a minute " I stood there for a good five minutes and looked behind me, a line had formed. Yet another male walked right passed us and ...nothing again. It wasn't until the young lady was in between drive through customers that myself and the others got help for food selections and payment. If the food was really, really good I would tolerate some of that but this location is iffy. A hit or miss situation with their menu items. This time I got the baked chicken, fried chicken, rice w gravey, fried green tomatoes and cornbread. The MISS were the fried green tomatoes. They were Uber salty and Uber tart, bitter. I threw them away. Everything else was a HIT. Advice: it looks horrible having workers (management or not sitting down when customers need service). I'll be back but it will be a...
