This was my first time eating here. When we walked in, we stood waiting for someone to greet us and seat us. So we grabbed menus from the podium and starting reading the selections they offered. Then we were greeted and told we could pick where we wanted to sit. After being seated, we had fresh coffee and ordered. Our food came and my cheesy eggs were luke warm. Cheese wasnt melted. Bacon was good but also not hot. My husband order French toast and bacon and asked that the bacon be cooked crispy and a little longer. He doesn't like chewy bacon. We sat and ate, finished eating our food and my husband still hadn't received his bacon. Our server forgot. Then after we reminder her about the bacon, she went and talked to the cooks, she brought bacon but told my husband she didn't think he would like it so she took in back and as we was getting ready to pay, she brought out some burnt bacon. I was blown that she would even bring that out and offer it to customers. Surely she would not have eaten it. It was dry and looked like it had sat a bit. If you touch it, it would fall to pieces. He asked her to just take the bacon off of the check. Ridiculous! It will be awhile before I go back and when I do, as soon as something is forgot or missed.. Im gonna be on it... Service and the quality of the food is important in the food business... Owners teach...
Read moreI was not impressed by this experience at J Christopher's. I was traveling from Atlanta to Macon for work and was looking for breakfast along my travel route and I came across J Christopher's. When I walked in, no one was at the front, which was fine. Shortly after, two women approached the hostess stand. The first one walked right up to the stand and began gathering some things, but didn't make eye contact or speak to me. The other person said hello and I let her know I was here to pick up an order. She whispered something that was difficult to hear so I asked her if she could repeat herself. She pointed to a bag of food that was sitting on a table near the door. It was my food. There was no other interaction. Both women seemed very uncomfortable and maybe even slightly unfriendly. I'm not sure if they aren't used to people like me (black/LGBT) or if they have poor customer service in general, but I can tell you that based on the experience I had, I wouldn't want to come back. Aside from the interaction, the food was pretty bad. The eggs were the best part, they were actually pretty good. But the sausage was dry and overcooked, the toast was dry and unbuttered and the potatoes were...
Read moreI went here with a group of ladies from church for a birthday breakfast. I understand dealing with groups as a waitress is not at the top of your list for Saturday mornings, but it's one of those things you have to deal with sometimes. Needless to say that our waitress was far less than thrilled to be serving us. She spilled water on the table (knowingly) and never offered to clean it up. She only cleaned it after we asked for paper towels to clean it up. No smile, no concern, nothing. Just regular RBF. Yet, every other table she was serving, received a smile and lighthearted laugh. The food was just ok. I had an omelette with chicken in it. The chicken had no seasoning, the potatoes were half done, and the biscuit was cold. The salsa ($1 extra for about a tablespoons worth) was the only thing that made the omelette palatable. My companions said the grits were good. It wouldn't be my 1st, 2nd, or 3rd choice for breakfast. I would try it again before I completely dismiss it as an option, but it won't be...
