Bob Evans — Restaurant in Madison Heights

Starting with the hostess, she seemed annoyed to stop her conversation to seat us. Our waitress was not rude but not pleasant when taking our order. One main course was brought to our table, but not the other. Not a word was said. When we saw her again, five minutes later, I asked about the missing meal and she said she was sorry, she never entered that one. On the first meal, the hash browns were burnt close to blackened, with bits of charred food that was not potatoes. when the pot pie arrived, the top was doughy and under cooked. Under that the "soup" which should have been a filling was all a whitish sauce, 3 pieces of chicken and a small scattering if peas and carrots. Almost the entire thing was a watered down gravy. When we told the waitress the hash browns here inedible, the manager removed the cost if hash browns from the total bill. Drinks were only refilled on request. I used to come here often before COVID. Came here this weekend for the first time in over a year and was pretty disappointed, to be completely honest. I frequented Bob Evans because they’re pretty much the only place that serves waffles and they’re waffles are actually great; perfectly crispy & soft where they should be. I’ve only become comfortable going out to eat over the last couple of weeks and have only been to a handful of places, and Bob Evans was on my list. Imagine my shock when I went to order my usual, and the waitress advised they no longer had waffles “due to covid” (whatever that means?). I settled for the pancakes. I think I ate maybe half of one of the three that I had. Very questionable texture and flavor. The person I was with ordered French toast—same thing. Barely edible. Thankfully, the breakfast meat was ok.

My mom loves Bob Evans so when she comes into town we go to the Bob Evans by the Oakland Mall. This Bob Evan's has really gone downhill since the last time I was there. There is 6 of us eating tonight. The place is completely empty besides us, which we felt was great so we can be in and out quick. That did not happen! Three of us got there food and finish before the other three even began to eat (That is a pet peeve for me. I really hate that.) Soups and salads came out with the main meal instead of before. The waitress seemed very disorientated. We didn't order complicated meals either. It was simple sandwiches and a few breakfast orders. Needless to say it was very disappointing and I will have to find somewhere else to take my mom when she visits because I am not going through that again.
