Golden Cone Frozen Custard - Madison Heights — Restaurant in Madison Heights

OK so after waiting for the place to renovate the old shakers was excited to see it was going to be a custard place right down the block. Yesterday my kids and I took a walk and tried them out. First off the custard is perfection nothing else you can say. The flurry was well made for my daughter, but the Cone was poured in a goofy manner but was a heaby pour nonetheless. I wanted a turtle parfait but for being newly open didn't have any pecans 🙁 so I switched to a hot fudge sundae. Where the four stars comes in was the lack of smooth operation and again its new, but the hot fudge seemed to come from a bottle in a warmer instead of the stainless pump deals you usually see which I guess wouldn't be an issue but the poor girl couldn't get the barely warm fuged out of the bottle. Amazing what new owners change. I asked for a pup cup. Most ice cream places simply give you a small bowl with some vanilla ice cream, cost to them is less than .50 cents and it brings pet lovers to their establishments. Now at Golden Cone I was charged just over $3 for it. Ok, I understand things change and clearly having locals with pets come there for ice cream is no longer aligned with their business plan. I was then given a 2oz condiment cup of vanilla ice cream. Seriously, no exaggeration a 2 oz plastic condiment cup, 2 ounces of ice cream for over $3 ? I questioned the size and was told that the manager has instructed the servers to charge that price and place it in that cup or they would be fired. We consider our dog worthy of an ice cream treat when the rest of the family gets one, it will never come from Golden Cone again unless this is changed. Edit: Thank you for quickly...

The custard and ice cream here are THE BEST!!! I’ve never had anything I didn’t love. It’s the perfect treat for a summer day. Staff is always kind and friendly. I also had a chance to meet the owners and they’re engaging and have provided me and my mom with great customer service. I also really like the dairy free options that are great for friends I’ve gone with who can’t have dairy.
