Empress of China — Restaurant in Madison

Our server tried his best to do a great job. It he was certainly rattled and I don’t feel like he had much support from his co workers…there were 2 servers and they weren’t terribly busy at the time we went in but you would have thought they had every table full and a line outside the door from the way they were running around and the amount of time it took to get our food. We all ordered and the particular dish i ordered I specifically asked for no shrimp double the chicken, the first app came out, then 2 plates of dinner came out then the second app which we had to ask for came at the same time the other two meals came, there was four of us, I got my meal and it was full of shrimp, I asked the waiter to please return this and have the kitchen replace it, well after everyone else at my table had eaten their meals and the apps my food finally came out about 30 mins later, needless to say I was not happy, and on top of that my sisters food she ordered was supposed to come with green beans and when she asked for them they told her it was an additional 6.00 to the bill even though they were listed with the meal, she never got them and on top of that none of us received our rice that was supposed to come with the meals and the waiter took her pot stickers to the table behind us and after they had touched them and realized it was wrong he tried to go ahead and serve them to her. This is Hands Down my favorite place in Madison to eat! The food has always been Delicious every time we've eaten here! The establishment always clean, the atmosphere pleasant and the staff has been very prompt and courteous. The Owners are often there and are the sweetest people you could meet! Years ago I brought my (then) infant with us to have dinner here. It was difficult trying to eat while holding a baby that refused to not be held, but I was pretty used to it. The Owners had come over and started talking to us, we had been there many times befor. The couple are Very Caring An polite people. They asked if they could hold my baby, and although I was caught off guard not used to being asked that in a restaurant, I said Sure! The woman held my little one in her arms rocking her back An fourth while smiling and cooing at her. Then she asked me if she could hold her for a bit so I could finish my meal! I was amazed An shocked to see such a wonderful Display of Kindness! Ive never forgot that and probably never will. We have been to eat here Many times over the years, and not once have we left disappointed! All their food is Great! In 20yrs there isn't many things we haven't tried, and it's not only Delicious but the servings are Enormous! We always bring home...

This place made me physically sick. I threw up in a napkin in the bathroom. I tried to eat my food. My sister's food smelled like bad fish. We tried to tell the manager that the meat might be spoiled. She argued, said all her meat was fresh. She did made her a new different dish. It still didn't taste good. We didn't eat much of anything but a little rice. Still paid full price. I still feel nauseous. I love Asian food, but something is wrong here! And in response to your reply, my daughter just said it was alright when asked about the General Taos because you were just standing there waiting for a response and she is polite. And it at least didn't smell like toilet water like the first one did. I'm sorry, maybe your restaurant just had an off day. We have had all of the food we ordered at numerous other restaurants and it was good, so it wasn't just the dishes offered. Also we left almost our entire plates of food. If any of it was good,we would have eaten it or taken it to go. Update: my sister got extremely ill later on. We will never go back. Stop implying that it was because your food style is from a different country's culture. That is not why it is gross. It was probably spoiled or almost...
