Having heard about Mission BBQ from fellow Veterans and other Veteran- oriented marketing being a Veteran founded and owned business and the high praises of quality, I knew I had to check it out-- and I have to say I was thoroughly impressed. The Exterior was well-lit and clean, the beautiful black Deuce-and a half smoker truck posed out front stoically directing attention to something special housed within the walls (it's also a functional smoker unit, just awesome). Walking into the establishment, you are met with a very welcoming and clean environment, filled with photos and memorabilia of Military nostalgia and themes of honoring service, walls covered in unit patches and regalia it brings a feeling of comfort and connection for those (like myself) who have served or are serving. It was really pleasant. There was also music playing and wasn't too loud which complimented the atmosphere (though not a big fan of country and some of the top-40 that was playing personally). I was greeted by the staff with a warm hello and smiles, was nice to see people who are happy to work there and provide quality service. They worked efficiently and were very helpful in explaining the menu and options/ portions. The prices are fair to the type and portions of food you get, they definitely don't skimp on that. About the food: Delicious, plain and simple. The Brisket was phenomenally tender and cooked perfectly, the french fries savory and blanketed with a nice house seasoning blend, the coleslaw is hearty and flavorful. They have an amazing array of BBQ sauces, many of which along with about half of their menu is gluten free as well-- really a nice variety to enjoy in full. I can say with confidence this is some of the best BBQ in the area, really nice to see some quality food of this nature that competes easily with the best found in Kansas and Texas. Will definitely be a returning customer for as long as they remain there, from a Veteran to the other Veterans and staff at Mission BBQ-- y'all rock, thank you for what you do...
Read moreA couple of weeks ago, I visited this site with my wife and family. This was our 1st time we have visited a Mission BBQ location and was impressed by the location. Lots of recognition for those that served both locally, state, and federal. The smell of BBQ and the cleanliness of the site made it appealing to sit and eat at the location; with outdoor seating available. However, my review is not to praise the food or site (even though it was fantastic!), It's about recognizing the customer service experience I got and how it enhanced my dinner.
After reviewing the menu, I walked up to order. The gentleman who took my order was Ben, store manager, and he provided good input and suggestions about ordering and my specific order. Based on my choice, I was told it would take about 15 to 20 mins and was asked if I would wait. I agreed, paid and took my seat to wait. While I waited, I spent time with the family while I waited.
After a time I was getting really hungry and was wondering how long it had been. Thankfully, at that time my food was ready and the person who gave me my food apologized for the delay. After eating my food for a bit, Ben came over personally and apologized for the wait and was thoroughly embarrassed it took so long (he said it was closer to 40 minutes). He presented us with some free sandwich coupons and asked us for desserts that we would like and brought them over to our table, on the house.
I was very impressed with the level of professionalism, respect, and care the staff and Ben, specifically, had for me and my family. It is because this experience that I will be returning to this location for my next BBQ itch and hope it will be the only place I come to for all my BBQ itched for years to come.
I highly recommend this location because of great food, excellent dining facility, and most importantly, exceptional customer service....
Read moreThe food is great, never had a bad experience. The one criticism I can make is the way they alert you when you're food is ready to pick up at the counter. What the do is call our your first name. One one occasion there was another person there with my first name who was also waiting for food and this system created only a minor and momentary confusion while we sorted out whose order it was. On a second occasion, there was again another person with my same first name waiting for food who was positioned much closer to the counter than I was. When "my name" was called, he very quickly took the tray containing my food back to his table. I wasn't aware of the mistake that was made until "my name" was called again only to find it was the food that the "other me" ordered, which resulted in having to wait for Mission to remake my food again. Now, "other me" should have recognized immediately that the food he scurried away with was 100% different than what he ordered, and it's still perplexing to me how that never once crossed his mind, but at the end of the day Mission constructed a system which allows for confusion like this to occur. I won't take a star away for that because the food is excellent and they did remake my food for me, but this confusion has happened twice and due to the system they created. Another reason I won't deduct a a star is because I now use a very obscure fake name which seems to have alleviated that confusion altogether and sometimes it's fun to be "Angelo"...
