Southern Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Maggie Valley

Save your money and time by going somewhere else. First let start with what happened the day before. We stopped for lunch at 130pm and and while walking to the door the waitress met us at the door to say that they were closed. I noticed the sign said 2pm but she said that they were closed. OK no problem we ate elsewhere. Next day we returned for dinner and ordered the fried chicken dinner where the menu states that there may be a 15 to 20 minute wait. No problem. About 10 minutes later our food came out. I really think the chicken was reheated in a microwave because the breading was soggy and not crispy. The small dish of baked beans was half filled with water and cold. Corn on the cob did not melt the butter. Collard greens were good. Couldn't eat the corn bread, it was that dry. All this for two chicken dinners and two sodas for $60 without a tip. (yes I tipped the waitress 20%, its not her fault)....

Says on the menus that it takes 15min for fried chicken, especially when busy - we were there at 4p on a slow rainy Wednesday & it took 30min (the brutality of this time might be better mitigated with some courtesy hush puppies or something, while we wait 🤷) - finished my sweet tea about 15min before our chicken arrived, was only refilled upon my request when the food finally...came. My steamed cabbage was chilly, the Mac&Cheese was average & my fried okra was not fully fried --- however, somebody back in the kitchen really nailed it on the fried chicken, which was really cooked well - both dark & white meat were delicious and juicy... Thankfully, the chicken saved our experience - the bill was rather steep too - if someone wants some bangin' chicken it's probably the place to go, but it's hard to endorse the place fully based on...

Please do not promote that you have southern home cooked food!! When I pay $24 for a fried chicken plate and wait 30 mins for my food, I do not expect to get dry box Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes that taste like they just dumped out the inside of an old baked potato and poured watery gravy on it. My friends baked potatoes was burnt and her chicken strips were chewy like they hadn't been cooked long enough.

The rolls and fried chicken were actually good but the rest of the food was trash! Not to mention I guess we got sat in the junk section because the table we sat at had piled up junk right behind it...
