Service was phenomenal and has been consistent across on both our visits. Unfortunately we cannot say the same for the food. Smoked Gouda pimento cheese sounded intriguing, however didn’t get any smoked flavor of the Gouda. Was fine, but nothing different or special. Seemed to be heavy on cream cheese thus the Gouda didn’t shine as we had hoped. I had the trout. No flavor and was done differently than last time. Too greasy and not much flavor other than some chopped garlic. Beans with stewed tomatoes (?) for a side. Again no flavor and beans were undercooked so chewy. Couldn’t eat them. Husband had short rib (singular). Barely two bites of meat. Served with bland Brussels sprouts and polenta. Plain polenta. Definitely not the same quality and flavorful menu items we had the last time we were here (4 months ago) and raved to the owner how much we loved it. Different chef, obviously, and potentially needing to cut back on or simplify ingredients is our assumption, but that’s just an assumption. We are so disappointed. We didn’t even get dessert and were excited for the blackberry sour cream pie (owner highlighted it on our first visit and is was AMAZING), however feared more disappointment. We LOVED our first visit here a few months ago (five stars!) and we were so excited to return. Not sure we will try again. Hoping this is just a bad night because we want to love everything...

Read moreI’ve found another hidden gem!! So I’ve been traveling here in Maggie Valley NC and came across “Homecraft”, a local restaurant located within a hotel. I really didn’t think it was going to be all it turned out to be, but WOW was I wrong. The whole ambiance was unlike anything I would have expected, the lighting, tables, overhead music, everything was blended beautifully. The menu was small but packed such amazing flavors. They offer “small plates” from which we ordered three and were not disappointed! The taste was different and plentiful. They also offer a downstairs lounge with live music 🎶 on the weekends. My waitress served up exceptional service to go with my superior dinning experience. I definitely recommend a night here at Homecraft and more than sure you will not be disappointed, simply...
