Big Creek BBQ.... a local outdoor spot you can get ribs, chicken, and what they call brisket, but is really Pulled beef or pork. It may be sourced form Brisket but you don't call it brisket and serve it as Brisket when it is pulled.
Brisket is served sliced, not shredded or pulled. Now don't get me wrong it is still very good food. I live the food at BCB... but i hate they market it as Brisket (see attached picture for how Brisket should be served)
This serving of brisket as shredded or pulled must be a Northeast thing because it sure doesn't occur at any southern BBQ places and I really wish they would offer brisket served as it should be... then they can also serve that shredded version to people who want that, but those of us who like a good brisket sandwich have to goto Mission BBQ to get Brisket served correctly... even arby's serves it as slice sections, as does subway... so to the owners please fix this problem it is the only reason I won't give your food 5 stars.
Service is ok, but they can get overwhelmed when more than 5 people are placing an order... they just don't seem to understand or have a system for processing orders quickly, the staff walks over each other way too much.
Atmosphere... it is outdoor in a gravel lot with a port a John.. not exactly inviting, but I have heard they will be erecting a building at some point.
I just wish they were open year round because the full rack of ribs, chicken drums and coleslaw are awesome... stay away from the brisket until they serve it properly.
Also recommend the whisky Hot BBQ...
Read moreWell the flavor of the food and the quality of the pork was really good and my pulled pork barbecue sandwich, the fact that they used a hamburger bun instead of a Kaiser or some kind of crusty roll really just detracted from the whole entire sandwich. The hamburger bun was almost totally disintegrated by the time I got back to my house 20-25 minutes later. The top part of the bun completely fell apart and was just a little pile of mush. The bottom part you could barely hold on to as well. I did order a side of coleslaw that I wanted to put on top of my sandwich however that was not to be done because the sandwich is self couldn't even hold itself together let alone putting coleslaw on top. And ask for the coleslaw it was the most meager sized serving of coleslaw, and it cost $2.29! That's ridiculous. So paying $13.75 for a sandwich and a tiny bit of coleslaw was a complete rip off. I'll save my money and go down to grumpy's BBQ Roadhouse off of mach chunk, outside of Whitehall. There they serve the pulled pork on a nice roll, and the coleslaw is really really tasty. You don't get a side of it unless you ask for it on the side but a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw is about $10. And it's a large sandwich. Plus you can sit down and have a beer, so it's a better outcome all...
Read moreSome of the best meats in the state. I live over an hour away and will make the drive there and back just for this BBQ. I will get this out of the way, their sides are just okay; nothing bad, just eclipsed by the meat. Also an incredibly friendly staff, just great people. I do recommend ordering ahead though as wait times can get a bit long when busy.
Pulled Chicken - amazing Pulled Pork - amazing Beef Brisket - good, but its the tougher shredded kind, not the sliced kind. so its not bad just not my preference Drumsticks - If you eat them fresh you may need a fork. they are so tender that I have picked them up by the bone only to have the meat slosh right off. (Thats a good thing btw) Bacon loaded potato - My guilty pleasure. They BURY this thing in real grilled bacon. I never go without one Ribs - Some of the best I have eaten Sauces - God in heaven I would buy these by the bottle if they'd let me Hog Wings- They used to sell these every saturday, but now they are more of a random special item. Back in the day, if I knew was going to big creek, I would call up my nearby friends and family to take orders on these. Id get 5 or 6 orders then pass them out like FEMA...
