This has been the worst customer service experience! My family and I ordered dinner for an at home birthday celebration for my mother and a welcoming baby dinner for my sister who just gave birth 4 days ago. We ordered 2 orders of Tacos, 1 Order Of tortas, 1 burrito, 1 shrimp ceviche, nachos, guacamole and 2 orders of steak sopes. When we received our order we noticed we were missing items. When we reached out to the restaurant a gentleman named Ernesto was extremely rude and disrespectful to my father. My father was explaining the situation to this gentleman in Spanish and Ernesto insisted that this was my father's problem for not specifying he wanted two orders. Again my father explained the situation and asked him if he was understanding the situation. Ernesto sarcastically told my father "you can speak to me in chinese if you want". At this point I asked to take the phone from my father and ask whom I was speaking to as I do not stand for disrespect of any race/culture. I explained the situation once more to this gentleman and since I did not feel I was getting to a solution to the situation at hand I asked to speak to the manager. I was transferred to the manager named Nancy and explained the situation once more. Her solution was to send us the order that they did not add and the missing sope and charge us for the missing sope as an individual sope. I expressed my frustration to Nancy letting her know there must have been a miscommunication because we asked for 2 orders of sope and received individual sopes. As a manager I expected Nancy to be more understanding, instead she said it was our fault if we did not specify we wanted to orders and our only option was to pay for the individual sope and 1 order. I expressed to her the lack of professionalism and hospitality as someone who has previously worked in the restaurant/hospitality industry. We did not order 2 items we spent 85 dollars on dinner. I was willing to pay for the order that was not included however, would not pay for the individual sope because of their miscommunication. We are not first time costumers to this restaurant, we have been ordering from them for many years and it is unfortunate that we will no longer be supporting this restaurant due to the disrespectful/disgusting behaviors of...

Man, talk about nostalgia, with my 22nd birthday coming up the 24th of February. I was craving some authentic Mexican food like the Mexico food I had on my 21st birthday cruise. First stop was Cozumel, Mexico on my birthday. The people in Mexico are beyond friendly just like the staff in the restaurant. The food tasted rather on point which I enjoyed very much. I been to other Mexican restaurants in other states they did not compare to this restaurant. You definitely out beat, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Missouri, Nevada, and Florida restaurants that I been to. Congrats on that! I order something out my boundaries especially for being a vegetarian/vegan. I do have cheat day's once a month or every two months. This place made the cheat day worthwhile! I order a Chipotle Grilled Chicken burrito w/ avocado with a horchata(which that alone was phenomenal), that had a delicious and subtle taste of Chipotle which I enjoyed. My father had ordered 3 beef empanadas, with rice and beans and, his go to soda, a sprite. He definitely loved the food as well! Especially the rice and beans haha. I was glad to see him smiling as we catched up! Before our food came the staff was so kind to offer us complimentary chips and salsa. We enjoyed how the salsa was sweet and then spicy, it was a beautiful collaboration of the two flavors, well done.Expect to see us more often, when we are up in jersey, especially since I just moved...

Jefe...this is for you because I know you...people don't offer help like this to a business, they simply go elsewhere.

We just had lunch here.

The Chicharron...tasted like OLD Pork. Definitely not fresh. We couldn't eat them so we sent them back. The Skirt Steak...one was burnt. It was medium rare, but still over seared on the outside and left a burnt taste in the mouth. The Pico de Gallo with the Skirt Steak. Was mostly tomatoes. Very little onion, very little peppers, very little cilantro. It used to be so flavorful and robust. Not today. The back door was wide open for at least five minutes before I finally got up and closed it. It was freezing in the restaurant. I think a delivery guy propped it open to make his life easier and to ruin the dining experience for the customers. Of which we were the only ones the entire time. We were there from 12:15 until we finished our meal. The entire time, we were the only table with patrons. Lunch time on a Thursday in Mahwah? That's bad.

We asked about you. Apparently you're on vacation this week. But we also got confirmation that you don't come around much anymore. We figure you are focusing on one of your other restaurants.

IT SHOWS!!!

We won't be back until we can be certain you have fixed the problems. The food needs to be fresh. Throw it out of it gets old. Take the hit. It's better than losing customers. Tell TJ to tell us to try again...

If ever the phrase: "Don't judge by its cover" then this a prime example of it. Dropped off a parcel at the UPS store nearby and saw this place. Honestly scuffed a bit and went about my day. Well in the evening time as hunger took root, I decided to try it out. Result: Phenomenal food and amazing staff. I ordered a few things to try out but the main things I tried were: 1 asada steak taco and an order of chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Asada steak taco was very good, needed the lime and green salsa to really boost the flavor. How were the enchiladas? Very soft, could cut with just a fork and absolutely full of flavor. What caught me off guard were the beans (frijoles) they absolutely tasted like I was visiting my abuleita's ranch. Plenty of seating but the odd seating layout is only reason I dinged them for atmosphere. But overall food was cooked well, seasoned perfectly, and when I had plenty of food left over, the staff went out of their way to make sure I had a to-go setup including plate, extra forks, and napkins. Very warm and kind staff. While my stay in the area is short, I do plan to visit again. Highly encourage you to take a bite.

El Azteca is a gem for authentic Mexican cuisine! We tried the steak fajitas and tacos, and both were absolutely delicious. The steak fajitas were perfectly seasoned, tender, and served sizzling hot with fresh peppers and onions. The portion was generous, and the sides of rice, beans, and warm tortillas complemented the dish beautifully. The tacos were equally impressive – bursting with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The balance of spices and textures was spot on, making every bite enjoyable. The service was attentive and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere added to the overall experience. We’ll definitely be returning to El Azteca for another fantastic meal! Highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic and flavorful Mexican food.
