Please read this before you EVER think of sending your children to this awful camp.
Before I begin, I wish there was a zero star for this facilityâs lack of professionalism and mismanagement. I am a mom of three kids in competitive basketball and I just have to share this unbelievable experience weâve had tonight at the stacks â3v3â tournament.
Situation: The ownerâs son was playing against our âcompetitiveâ team and lost. As a result, the owner and manager started a dispute with our coach and another parent about our kids being âtoo bigâ asking for birth certificates & telling us our team had too many players alternating (not against regulations). A while later, they told us that we were disqualified for uncomfortable conversations between the ownership and parents. Theyâve punished the children to fulfill the ownerâs ego. I was absolutely baffled. Without any discussion, they told us that they didnât have time to explain to the rest of the parents what had happened and that we were âkicked out.â
If you play competitive basketball, this is definitely not the place to grow. The floor conditions are awful and there is no room for growth because they kick out competition that is too advanced for them.
The children and families that drove over an hour and modified vacation schedules to come and play were told to go home because the owner felt personally offended.
This place is awful, and I just have to share that the manager told me directly that he has every right to speak to our children in any way that he sees fit because they are in his gym.
The manager yelled in my face about the fact that some parents of our team asked him to talk to the parents about any issues instead of confronting our minor children about birth certificates and making other inappropriate comments.
When I later approached the manger, he said the only question that the kids had for him was âwhich court are we playing on next?â He said, to me that it wasnât the kids,⊠but for the manager, âuncomfortable discussionsâ with the owner was an enough to kick our team out of the tournament.
This is not a tournament ⊠this is a showcase for the âstacks teamâ to winâŠ. And when they didnât, they kicked us out.
Everything that happened this evening was extremely inappropriate and as an aau mom, this is definitely not the...
Read moreWould not recommend for a birthday party. We were supposed to have two coaches, but once activities began we only had one coach. After first 30 minutes, coach sat on the bench and was on his phone-blowing the whistle now and again. Coach also sat down during pizza time to eat pizza and be on his phone- which I personally didnât mind but it would have been appreciated for him to ask first (or if thatâs the expectation-to be told that when you book the party)-it just looks very unprofessional to constantly be sitting and looking at your phone instead of leading the party and interacting/guiding the kids. They were very nice but lacked the skills and professionalism to lead a party. If coaches are not interested in handling parties, then actual party hosts should be hired for the party aspect and coaches stick to game play. However, coaches should not sit and completely disengage to be on their cell phones-you are paying for them to lead the activities and actually coach/ref. We also had a birthday card for the birthday boy go missing and never found. It was on our table next to the cake-very disappointing :( . Additionally, the party video needs to be updated on the website-it states you get 3 coaches, water, Gatorade and a tshirt for bday child. Your website states 2 coaches, water, and training passes for goody bags-we didnât receive training passes. It would be best to make your advertisements and info all the same for what is...
Read moreItâs not worth it. Be prepared to spend upwards of $900 for the base plan and uniform. Then your kid will get placed on a team with at least 13 or 14 players. You will then show up to tournaments/games and will see that your team will have 15 players with several that arenât on the roster. STACK has a close relationship with a team called the âNJ Vipersâ. The kids are excellent basketball players (and great kids). They use the Vipers players to boost up their house teams. At the games, the Vipers players play the ENTIRE game (and take all of the shots) while the STACK kids sit on the bench. If you are looking for a program that prioritizes the development of its members and gives parents value for what they are paying, STACK is not the place.
Response to STACKâs rebuttal:
They are correct about the price. The actual price with the uniform was $833âŠmy mistake. As his response confirmed, STACK adds Vipers players to each team. At the tournaments and games that I have been to, Iâve seen 4 Vipers players added to teams on several occasions, so the comment about no more than 3 is BS. The website says that every player will play at least a quarter of the game, but this weekend several kids played less than 3 minutes of a 28 minute game. Parents notice this and it isnât a surprise that...
