I’ve been a loyal customer of this restaurant for about three years, but my experience on Wednesday, January 8th, around 4 PM was deeply disappointing and disturbing.
Upon arrival, I waited at my table for 10 minutes without being greeted, only to find a heavy-set man at the front leaning over the counter on his phone. After I informed him I’d been waiting, he apologized, and a waitress came to take my order shortly after. The food was fine, and the service during the meal was acceptable. I paid my $19 bill, leaving a $6 tip despite the earlier delay.
However, as I stopped at the counter to ask for a to-go bag, I overheard the waitress who served me making racist remarks to a cook and the same man who had been on his phone. She said, “It’s always the Black ones that do it. Not trying to be racist, but the stereotypes write themselves.”
This was shocking and hurtful, as our interaction had been polite, and I had gone out of my way to make things easier for her—condensing my trays, tidying the napkins, and leaving a generous tip. If that’s truly her opinion for whatever reason, then fine, but to be bold and loud enough for customers to hear such offensive remarks is completely unacceptable.
I immediately called the restaurant, and the man who answered—claiming to be the manager—denied hearing the remarks despite being in the same area. He said he’d pass it on to the next manager instead of addressing it himself, which seemed unprofessional. When I returned to discuss the situation, he claimed the waitress didn’t know why she made the comment.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially from staff who should know better than to make disparaging remarks, let alone in a way that customers can hear. I never expected to receive such treatment from a place I’ve supported for years. This experience has made me question whether I can continue to support an establishment where such behavior...

Looks like the Bartenders like to add themselves extra tips on your bill/change the receipt totals once you leave! My bill was $17 and some change with tip when I left and somehow an extra $8 was added making it $25 and some change. I called the place twice and was told the first day that the manager would call me back the next day, no call so I called back, manager on duty the following day wouldn’t help and told me to call back and speak to the owner in the morning. Clearly there’s an issue and it should be acknowledged. If you’re a “manager” handle the issue stop passing it off and saying to call back, if you can’t handle the issue maybe you shouldn’t be a manager. How hard is it to pull the copy of the receipt and go over it with the customer? Maybe ask them to come in and look at the signed copy? Where’s the problem solving?

Read moreBefore I got in, I got thrown out by the bald manager. I came there with my friends to only have a couple of drinks. We all got turned away. We went to Mango's and had a blast. The owner over there still remembered me and even let us all in for free without paying 20 cover. I miss Rick from chasers, he was alot better and you could actually talk to him. I've been coming to this bar for 24 years. I've spent thousands of dollars as many people have, and I've ordered food many times from here to go. You can trust me that I won't be going back over there or any other location or recommending it to anyone. There's many other bars in Chicago and suburbs. Ba-byee

As I said, I came with friends, and I would love to know exactly what I did last time I was in, because I have NEVER been rude to staff. If someone said that, then you should hear my side of the story or someone close sitting by me.
