You know if I had to work in a hot restaurant 7 days a week, 10+ hours a day, answering the same questions all the time, I doubt my overall temperament and mood would be that of happiness and sunshine all the time. So I get why some people feel the service here is lacking at times. But it is what it is. And it's not your typical American restaurant. This is a cafeteria style Filipino eatery. You peruse the daily offerings and then ask for your selections and they are happy to serve it to you. My wife is Filipina and she is is one of the most caring, loving, thoughtful people I've ever met in my life. Unlike me who is the polar opposite. So whenever my white boy looking self walks into this place alone I always get looks. But all you do is kill them with kindness and soon they all return the same sentiment. Personally, I have never had an issue with the food. Everything is tasty and delicious. It is home cooking Filipino style. Some of my favorites include staples like longsilog (breakfast dish, like pork sausage with eggs and garlic fried rice), adobo, sinigang, tapa, bangus, pork liempo, chop suey, and lechon kawali. Don't be afraid to ask what dishes are made up of, you kindly ask, they will tell you. I never had any spoiled food either, I mean look at it, if it doesnt lok delicious do you want it? Shame on you for blaming them. The food is always hot and fresh and if its not - what time are you going? This place closes down at 6:00p.. So if you're going after 4:00 p.m. , chances are you're getting the last of the servings. Yeah and a lot of it's been out on the hot plates all day. That's obviously not the time to go. In my opinion, and I frequent this location enough to have an opinion, you go in the mornings or very early afternoon because that is when the kitchen is at full force and they are putting out fresh offerings because they get people in and out their door all day. So seriously, the best time to go is in the morning or early afternoon. I just went today. Walked in at 10:00 a.m. there were a few people sitting eating and I looked at the offerings and everything was filled to the rim hot fresh. There was crispy offerings. There was egg and sausages and tapas still... Oh my God! So delicious! I know they do catering as well and that's always been good too. When coming to Filipino restaurants in the area you got to do your homework. There are sit-down restaurants that serve you and wait on you and then there are cafeteria type restaurants like Sarling Atin, You choose what you want from their offerings and either take it out or are free to sit down at one of their tables and eat right there. Great little gem of the Pacific Islander type in...
Read moreIf you are concerned for your health and you want to be respected and treated as a valued customer, avoid this place (SARILING ATIN). Because of the owner’s poor attitude and rotten karioka, we will no longer be seeking any business from them. We will continue going to IAN MAE, where we are treated with respect and valued, and the owner of IAN MAE is concerned for our happiness of the product, health, and well-being.
The four karioka that we bought at SARILING ATIN tasted rancid. We called the owner to have this problem addressed. When I talked with the owner of SARILING ATIN she made a lot of excuses to prove that there is nothing wrong with their product rather than taking accountability and solving the problem, and treated me as if we are the problem since we complained. She was firm that she would not replace the karioka and told us basically to deal with it and made a lot of excuses to get away from losing profit. So, she would rather put the customer’s health at risk than lose profit over four measly karioka.
IAN MAE will be the only place we will be going to from now on. They want to make sure the customer is happy and if you have any complaints, they will go above and beyond to solve any problem because they do not want to jeopardize the health of their customers and want to make the customer satisfied. IAN MAE MAKES THE CUSTOMER HAPPY AND SATISFIED. NOTHING CAN COMPARE TO THEM. YOU WILL EXPECT HIGH QUALITY, AUTHENTIC FILIPINO DISHES WITH EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXCELLENT FOOD HEALTH...
Read morei was there earlier. We were in line waiting for our turn for our orders to be taken. Then this worker, named "Linda", came in, took some food containers on the shelves, after getting them, shouted "EXCUSEEEEEE" to us in line. Imagine.. an employee of that restaurant, shouting at your customers to move??? Now, what i dont understand is why did she have to shout rudely?? the place is small and speaking on a normal tone would already suffice us on hearing her. All she stuff she carried werent even heavy, plastic lids.. And to think that their business is under the category of HOSPITALITY. Another thing i noticed is that theres a hidden charge of $1 upfront beside paying for the food. The cashier said it was for the disposable styro containers we were going to use.. WTH? they shouldve added that to the price since they dont have any utensils where people who wanna dine in could eat.
The place maybe a famous Filipino store here, but after what had happened, i might call this an INFAMOUS one. Would i be coming back? i doubt. Would i recommend this to any of my friends? Im afraid NOT. To those who want to try the experience and dine in the future, do it at your own risk, but you have been warned.
PS: Maam Linda, if pagod ka, wag mo idaan galit mo sa mga customers mo, pahinga ka muna para hindi ka...
