STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS!
Unfortunately I never got to actually eating, or even taking home the food for me to comment regarding the food quality. But I can surely tell you from the experience that I will never step foot in this establishment again given there are a lot of other local competitors offering the same food. I recommend others to also take your business to another establishment that actually values you and respects you as a customer. Clearly the overall 1.5 rating of this business (on yelp) and 3 star on google tells you all you need to know about it. Looks like another customer (on yelp) on 5/24 had the exact same issue that I am reporting and seems like he was dealt with the same disrespect that I was dealt with. Another one with a similar issue (on yelp) on 8/19 last year.
I placed an for a total of $19.97 and wanted to redeem the local flavor certificate I had bought for $10 for $20 worth of food (Certificate & Terms pictures attached). After redeeming the certificate on my phone, he tells me I owe him $11 & some change. I told him my total was less than $20 and I was redeeming a $20 certificate, so I should only be charged tax. The man stated that this certificate was for $10 off and I he’s given me the $10 discount on the order. For those of you that have used groupon, livingsocial, localflavor and many other similar service, you guys know how these deals work. I tried to explain him that I already paid the $10 to local flavor and in return I’m supposed to receive $20 of food. He argued back telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about and how the deal works. I showed him the terms (picture attached) yet he still argued and started to raise his voice in disrespect.
I understand that misunderstandings happen and businesses don’t realize sometimes how these things work. I as a customer would be annoyed but still understand if the business said they’re not accepting this deal or what not. I may have asked if they have any other deals going on and still get what I came to get. But telling me I don’t know what I’m talking about with a raised voice isn’t one I’m going to tolerate. So I ask for the manager for this person to tell me he is the manager. I told him he really needs to read the terms of the deal which clearly say for my $10 paid value, I am to receive $20 worth of food. He tells me, yes, so give me the $10. I told him I’ve paid that to local flavor and you need to get it from them. He tells me local flavors doesn’t give me anything and I don’t want to deal with them. (This same business has the exact same deal with Groupon also so I’m wondering if the Groupon customers get treated the same way.) I ask for the man’s name since he mentioned he’s not just the manager for this location, but rather the manager for the area. He refuses to give me his name. He voided my order and I told him I’d like a copy of the voided receipt and refuses to give that to me and just hands me some order number without any info. I ask again for the name, the man refuses and says I don’t have to tell you that. If you’ve done nothing wrong and are the manager following your normal process, why refuse to provide a name. Nonetheless, to make sure I can report the incident properly on reviews and to the corporate location, I took a picture of the man (also attached).
It isn’t the $10 discount that got me annoyed but it is the man first refusing to listen, then telling me I don’t know what I am talking about, then raising his voice to tell me he’s going to cancel my business and asking me to leave the store or “he’s going to call the cops” is what gets me. I can’t tolerate disrespect. Hence the reason why I’ve taken more time than what $10 is worth to ensure that I post this information about this business accordingly and also report them to the Papa John’s Corporate Office (To which this man said it doesn’t matter because they’re going to “tell me to call you and I will tell you the...
Read moreMy recent visit to Papa John's was one of the most disheartening and distressing experiences I've had in any restaurant. I was wearing traditional Indian attire, which I often do to celebrate my cultural heritage, and the treatment I received from the staff was nothing short of racist and discriminatory.
Upon entering the restaurant, I immediately noticed the staff's reaction to my presence. They exchanged looks and whispered to each other, casting glances at my traditional clothing. Despite this, I proceeded to place my order for a cheese pizza, hoping the service would improve.
When I approached the counter, the cashier barely acknowledged me, giving only a cold and indifferent look. I asked for a cheese pizza, and the cashier sighed audibly, as if my request was an inconvenience. The staff continued to whisper and snicker among themselves, making me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome.
As I handed over my Amex Platinum card to pay for my order, I noticed the cashier's eyes widen in surprise. It was as if they couldn't believe that someone dressed in Indian attire could possess such a card. This reaction was not only unprofessional but also deeply insulting. The cashier's behavior implied a prejudice based on my appearance, which is utterly unacceptable.
While I waited for my pizza, the staff's mocking glances and whispers persisted. It was evident that my traditional clothing was the subject of their ridicule. When my order was finally ready, the cashier rudely called out my number without even looking at me. As I collected my pizza, I overheard one of the employees making a derogatory comment about my attire. This was the final straw.
I confronted the staff about their behavior, but instead of apologizing, they smirked and dismissed my concerns. Feeling humiliated and disrespected, I asked to speak with the manager. The manager's response was equally disheartening. They offered a half-hearted apology that lacked any sincerity or commitment to addressing the issue.
This experience has left me deeply disappointed and disillusioned with Papa John's. It is appalling that in this day and age, such blatant racism and discrimination can occur in a place of business. My traditional Indian attire is a part of my identity, and being mocked for it is an attack on my cultural background.
I urge Papa John's to take immediate action to address this issue. The staff should undergo comprehensive training on cultural sensitivity and customer service. There should also be strict consequences for any employees found engaging in discriminatory behavior.
I will not be returning to Papa John's and will be advising my friends and family to avoid this location as well. No one deserves to be treated with the disrespect and prejudice that I experienced. Until Papa John's can ensure that all customers are treated with dignity and respect, they have lost a loyal customer.
In conclusion, my visit to Papa John's was a deeply negative experience marked by racist behavior and poor customer service. I hope that sharing my story will encourage Papa John's to reflect on their values and take the necessary steps to prevent this kind of behavior...
Read moreCalled to place an order because my coupon wasn’t going through online. They honored the coupon which was great. The three stars is more about the delivery driver, Carlos. When I placed my order I asked if they could advise the driver to call me when he was here bc we are in the back of the building, the furthest point from the lobby and I am 9 months pregnant. He said he would.
The driver called me when he was in the lobby. I asked if he could drive to the back of the building as I gave these directions when I placed the order. He then asked if my address wasn’t correct, i told him it was but that I was in the back and again asked if he could come to the back. He said “im in the lobby now” I told him I understood but if he could drive to the back I would really appreciate it, he cut me off and said “I’m in the lobby okay” and cut the call. Very poor service and I had already tipped him when I placed the order. I very much thought about calling to rescind the tip. Walking to the front cost everyone more time and walking that far trying to hustle isn’t very accommodating when you’re days away from your due date. Not to mention that it was about half...
