I tried this place about 6 months ago when I was in search of a Taco Tuesday deal. Unfortunately, this place had no such thing. I ordered two tacos (steak and salmon) and they were served with beans and rice. I got a beer with it and my bill totaled about $25, which wasn't really ideal, but I really enjoyed the food nonetheless. The meat quality was very good. Both had a very soft texture and it seemed to just melt in your mouth. They were also seasoned very appropriately; not too much and not too little. The texture of the beans were so smooth that they were almost creamy. Even the rice was nice and moist with lots of flavor. The chips and salsa were pretty good as well. I really liked the atmosphere of this place. It had somewhat of an elegant, high end appearance inside, but had more of a cozy feel as I was sitting at the bar. The bartender was very personable and friendly. The place was not that crowded, so we chitchated about hiking, basketball, and some other things about the LA area. It's definitely always good talking to locals about what to do in the area. Overall, while this wasn't particularly the kind of place that I had in mind, the food was very good. The prices aren't low but the quality does kind of make up for it.

Café Habana Malibu sits in a prime location—just off Cross Creek, close enough to the action but far enough to feel a little more tucked away. It’s got a laid-back, beach-adjacent vibe, which works for what it is, though the decor could use a little more personality. Not a dealbreaker, but you don’t quite get the warm, transportive feel you’d expect from a Cuban-Mexican fusion spot. The waitstaff? Excellent. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there—which always adds to the experience. The menu leans short and sweet—some might say limited—but what they do offer is solid. Think decent tacos, better-than-expected elote, and a couple of standout cocktails. It’s not trying to be Bestia or Guelaguetza—it’s more casual hangout than destination dining. The food falls into the “good, not great” category, but for a sunny afternoon with friends or a laid-back lunch stop while strolling Malibu Country Mart, Café Habana earns its place. It’s not a culinary revelation, but it’s reliable, comfortable, and well-placed. A solid 3.5 stars rounded up for vibe and service.

I feel like they have the best tacos I have tried in a long time. You have to try the steak taco at Cafe Habana. Heck, try the shrimp one too. Heck, make it a taco fest because their tacos are really that good. They also make anything steak so darn delicious. Their steak dinner with rice and beans was also nice. I love their cut tomato that comes with the meal. It’s soooo good. If you want to grab drinks they also have a bar. I love the vibe and the staff are very sweet and helpful. Tell them Toni said to check them out. Those tacos are worth the drive if you don’t stay around Malibu. Oh one last thing… Apple Maps will take you to the wrong address. At least mine did. Their entrance is located on cross creek not on PCH. Have fun and happy eating.

1st time here and wasn't given great customer services by the waiter. Everyone else appeared friendly and welcoming. I was informed It was going to be a 45 min wait or take a table in the middle of the room. This table had wobbly legs. We ended up taking the table to avoid the 45 minute wait. To start I ordered 2 ice teas and ice waters. I received 4 child size cups. The ice water had no ice, and the tea the same. The ice tea was almost room temp. The waiter didn't give me anything to stir my tea. He appeared as if he was rushing or not really wanting to be at work.. The table was un even which resulted in me dropping my tea all over. I asked my waiter for assistance. He was completely clueless. The drink was dripping from the table all over the floor. He didn't make any suggestions or even try to help the situation. I had to verbally give prompts as well as asking for napkins that he had in his apron. My waiter complied and gave me napkins as he left me to clean the spill. He didn't even bother to ask me if he could get me a refill. I did my own customer services and cleaned what I could. I even put napkins on the floor. I did request if I could possibly have another table but according to him I needed a reservation. It's funny how the host of the door told me it would be a 45-minute wait and not once mentioned a reservation was needed, Go figure! I ended up leaving and was charged $10 for 2 child size cups of tea. I have no attention to return because of one person who acted unprofessional or inconvenienced. His co workers seemed more apologetic then he did. Sad really, because it looks like a good place to eat. Ended up at In and Out and had a better meal experience with better...

Worst dining experience ever. The waiters ignored our party of 9 people and didn't take our drink orders for an hour. The food is not cuban AT ALL and barely Mexican. They gave us the wrong drinks for 3 people at the table. We asked them to bring 3 new drinks and they brought one drink back and gave us attitude when we made it clear that we asked for 3. They didn't even remove the old drinks from the table.Food didn't get to us until 2 hours into being seated. It was not a busy night. A table next to us of 5 got there food and drinks within 30 min of sitting down. At first I thought it is just a place with poor service but after watching closely to how everyone else was served I realized it had more to do with color of our skin. We were the only group of hispanic and african americans at the restaurant. The only Caucasian at our table was the one that got her drink order corrected. More and more it became clear that this restaurant had no idea how to treat their customers. I hate to bring it to race because everyone thinks its our first line of defense as minorities but it was hitting us in the face. Cafe Habana, correct me if I'm wrong, is your staff racist or do you just have poor service?

Also, you shouldn't put up little pictures of Al Pacino as Scarface, he is an Italian playing a Cuban. Or maybe leave it up, it is a good metaphor for your fake...

We have been ordering takeout here once a week recently and generally have had a good experience. They’ve forgotten items on at least one occasion so check your bag before you leave. However, their estimates of pickup times are wildly inaccurate. I ordered last night and the email said 15 minutes. I got there right on time and ended up waiting 45 more minutes, nearly till their closing time. So it took an hour to get 2 fish tacos and an order of nachos. The bar tender said they were short staffed which the manager heard and said ”no we’re not short staffed, there’s just too many orders”. I saw several people turned away who wanted to order. In the 45 minutes I waited, I saw maybe 7 orders come out so I think the bar tender was telling the truth. One or two orders would come out and then there’d be a 7-10 minute wait and 1-2 more would come out. The manager probably just understaffed the kitchen for a Saturday night to cut down on costs. The manager said the pickup time estimate on their email is an automatically generated 15 minutes and doesn’t have any link to the actual wait times. So Best to call ahead on weekends. The food is good, generally fresh tasting although the Nachos looked like they had been sitting there the full 45 minutes I waited, the margaritas are very good. Portions are...
