Malibu was honestly a bit disappointing. I was hoping to catch a glimpse of my uncle Charlie’s house (yeah, I know…), or at least see those iconic beachfront homes — but turns out it’s all private property with security guards, so you can’t really get in. You can access a small beach on the left side, and technically you’re allowed to walk on the wet sand (thanks, US law), but the dry sand is private. So overall, kind of a mixed experience. There were quite a few surfers, which was fun to watch, but Malibu didn’t really live up to the hype — or maybe I just didn’t see it the right way, probably needed a local guide.

This beach is really nice. The water is cold and if you come during low tide you can find things like crabs and clams. The weekends had a bit of people but it wasn’t too busy. The parking lot is pretty small and it’s $3 an hour or $13 for the whole day. If you have the state park pass you can also use that for parking. If you walk east you can see mullet fish around either dead on the floor or in a small pond up on the beach. You can’t take them if you’re visiting in April or May but anytime before/after that is fine.

The southwestern end of the public beach of central Malibu. The public sand beach continues beyond the lagoon, thru Surfrider Beach and the pier. The east end is by the Malibu Beach Inn, just south of Sweetwater Canyon Drive. There’s a cool southbound trail from the end of Cross Creek Place that connects to Malibu point. From that point, the trail turns east, thru the Malibu Lagoon Beach. I’d say that a visit to the Lagoon Beach should include passage to the point and vice versa.

Fresh and invigorating ocean air.

The feelings evoked by these images are nuanced and can vary depending on individual perspectives. Here’s an interpretation based on the visuals: Image 1 (Black-and-white wetland): • Feelings: Nostalgia, solitude, and introspection. • The muted tones and natural elements create a reflective mood, as though inviting the viewer to pause and contemplate. The lack of vibrant colors adds a sense of timelessness, evoking memories or a longing for simplicity. Image 2 (Modern house): • Feelings: Comfort, ambition, and curiosity. • The architectural design, juxtaposed with the natural surroundings, inspires thoughts of success and harmony. The house feels like a retreat, suggesting a desire for sanctuary while being connected to nature. Image 3 (Black-and-white lake and hills): • Feelings: Calmness, isolation, and wonder. • The vastness of the water and the quiet stillness of the landscape suggest tranquility, while the distant hills hint at exploration or the unknown....
