I want more than anything to give this a five star, but the wait just doesn't allow me to.
I have been going to this restaurant since I was 8 years old (1986) and some things have changed, while others are almost exactly the same.
The Malibu Chef sandwich is still a staple on the menu.
Big John, who used to work behind the counter (what seemed like every day of the year) has passed on to serve delicious food in the next realm.
The store is still small, but packed with snacks and beverages.
The crowd has definitely changed. What used to be a surfer crowd with Malibu mom's, has turned into LA moved north. High style has replaced UGG boots and hoodies.
The food, still amazing. Everything we got was tasty and the kids loved playing while we waited.
The long wait from back in the day has only increased, it took us 53mins to get 3 sandwiches, hence the 4 star review.
Would I go back and make the wait?? Absolutely. Nothing beats that tuna...

I absolutely love their tuna salad sandwich and have found this to be one of the few places I can get sprouts over lettuce. Amazing alternative!
They always have a wide variety of chips and drinks to complement your meal.
Don’t be surprised if you experience less than stellar customer service though. Staff is often slammed with orders and guest that aren’t very attentive, which I’m sure is frustrating but not an excuse to be rude.
The quality of the food is what keeps me coming back, and since this is not a sit down restaurant it’s easy to ignore the okay counter culture here.
Pro tip: order ahead on your phone and grab your chips and drinks when you pick up. (Those options are not included in...
Read moreBLTA- $18. But the toast was so hard you could hardly bite it. Definitely not soft sourdough. Overcooked crispy bacon. Huge wedge of lettuce. Not recommended to order again. Especially for the high price tag!
Avocado wrap- $18 Better option. Spinach tortilla was good. Avocado, Feta, and cucumbers had a Greek flavor to them. Chicken was a little bland, but acceptable with the other flavors. Still over priced, maybe $12-15 is more appropriate.
Both sandwiches came with a side salad with balsamic dressing. A little too salty, but otherwise yummy and a nice side.
Overall, for the price, I'm not sure if it was worth it. Maybe it's a location thing and the price reflects that. If so, stick to the wrap, not the BLTA.
Nice quiet outdoor...
