Do yourself a favor & avoid The Manalapan Diner. My son visited tonight with a group of friends. He ordered a medium-rare burger that came with fries. He & a friend both ordered their burgers the same way (medium-rare), but my son's burger came out practically raw (see picture). He "ate around the edges that were a little more cooked than the rest of the burger". He's not a huge complainer but told me that he began feeling sick. He sent me a picture of the burger and asked if it looked raw. I told him to talk to the manager & show him the difference between the two burgers. The Manager's response was, "This is what our medium-rare looks like here." He looked at it for some time and abruptly said "I'll see what I can do." What??? I could only imagine what a rare burger looks like here. If two people at the same table order their burgers the same way & they come out differently, don't try to make a customer feel like they're in the wrong just because they're teenagers. Not the way to keep repeat business. Their money & tip is still supporting this business. Too many places to eat to put up with that. The manager could have comped the raw dish. Next time, I'll make sure the kids go to All Seasons Diner II right up the road. ps. If you found my review helpful, please be sure to click on the thumbs up & like this post. Thanks :)

Not in a decade of working in the food industry have I seen a place constantly striving to diversify its menu options so as not to become tedious (without increasing price, only variety), accommodate the customers in ways above and beyond what is necessary to the extent I feel I am being personally served when dining in. As for some of the commentary I read on the reviews, of course not everything will be perfect every single time given the 40 page menu, 2-3 pages of specials and 9-10 servers on some of the more busy nights. To make a long story short, without a question, hands-down Manalapan diner is by far the most consistent, reliable, cost-conscientious, inviting, and overall phenomenal diner in central jersey. From its atmosphere to its persistent efforts in ensuring they are exposing their clientele to new cuisines to its friendly staff, I have nothing but exceptional things to say for the place. I've almost never left a google review in my entire life, but it is perhaps the consistent rapid-fire and on point service that has accustomed customers to except nothing less. Short of a piggy-back ride to the car, some of the meals come with so much that you'd think we were taking money from them. Excellent job guys, keep it up.

Service was lacking. Went in at 9pm with 3 kids, weren't offered the kids placemats to keep them busy (saw the hostess folding them as we were leaving.) Asked for spaghetti and was told the "sauteed side" was closed (even tho they close at 11) but they were able to make the pasta for us anyway. Waitress didn't specify what the restrictions we're so didn't know what exactly was still available so most of us got breakfast. The platter was fine but my burrito was kinda dry and flavorless. Nothing in the fruit cup was ripe except the grapes. They seemed understaffed like most establishments these days, otherwise I would have given it a lower score.

I have been constantly going here for about 2-3 years and I can say the food quality, taste, and staff service are never disappointing. I've been to a multitude of diners and this one outranks all of them in every field including prices.

Some staff I'd like to thank for their constant smiles, humor, and astounding service are Max, Angel, and the hostess (apologies that I don't know their name), along with some others. Max and Angel have served us time and time again and it's always a pleasure.

Most, if not all, staff are understanding and have no problem tweaking a menu item (like if I were to order a burger I typically ask for no tomatoes haha) and always ensure you enjoy your dish. Unlike some diners and restaurants whose staff pester you at every moment the staff at this diner gives you your space and ensures your comfort and satisfaction. (I'm able to go on and on about the incredible service here but I'll try to cut myself short).

Continuing, there is typically no wait time once you walk in (maybe when you go late in the evening but in the afternoon, morning, and lunchtime, there's none) and there is a good amount of parking wrapped around the building.

As mentioned previously, the atmosphere is great. Including the spacious parking, the general exterior is kept in good condition and looks just like some fancy restaurant does. The interior has a European feel to it, which makes sense as the owners are a Greek family (they have a paragraph within their Menu talking about the history of the Diner!). The floors, tables, and cutlery are always clean. The booths and tables are spacious and comfortable too!

Stopping myself here, all in all, this place is a must-visit if you want a good hearty meal from a place that has a large selection of dishes including European (Greek/Mediterranean, and the like) and classic Diner dishes (including Gluten-Free and Vegan options), great staff, and wonderful atmosphere. I think most people who have visited here could agree...

This place has gone downhill. Went here for dinner on a Sunday with a group of 4

As soon as we were seated, some of the staff members were arguing behind us in the midst of all the tables. First red flag.

My order was incorrect and two other people's orders were disgusting. One of them was a shrimp risotto the other was a cheesesteak.

The risotto came out much later than the other three plates, which is understandable because it's a longer cooking process.

Nobody had complained about the delay and we were waiting patiently. So I was surprised the waitress felt the need to give us some rigamarole about how the new cook didn't know how to make it so they had to call someone else to do it. Second red flag.

The shrimp smelled spoiled. Anytime someone walked past our table I got a huge whiff of it. The person who ordered the dish was so polite and did not send the dish back.

When the waitress asked why she didn't want to take the leftovers, I interjected that the shrimp smelled fowl. We had already paid and had no expectation of a substitution or money off the bill.

The waitress then returned to say the cooks tasted the food and said there was nothing wrong with it.

We weren't looking for any compensation so this felt like a slap to the face after having to endure that odor the entire meal.

They didn't have to taste the food, they just had to smell it. But not even to try to make it right? We won't be back.

The two dishes that were disgusting left both recipients not feeling well by the time we left.

Disappointed as this used to be a good...

5/2/15,,,lunch. 2 adults, 2 kids. a variety of foods, all good hot and cold where should be, came out in the expected amount of time. service on the floor and the waitress, Mary, all excellent and friendly. place was packed. Mary had a table of about 8 older teens, who sat next to us, they were very nice and adult one had allergy problems which took alot of Mary's time to discuss with him, but she was very patient and smiling and accomodating. At one point she very professionally said, " I'll check in the kitchen for your questions and I'll be right back, need to tend to my other tables, and I'll be back." which she did. as a retired waitress who has worked in probably every Greek diner in Monmouth County since 1970, I know how food should be, length of time delivered, wrapped to go, attitudes, etc. I could find nothing wrong anywhere. I have read the above complaints and agree that this stuff happens. But apparently alot of good stuff happens to, or this diner would have been empty. A patron has every right to good service and food and every right to complain when it isn't. Owners should bend over backward for the custome. I would go back if I lived in the area. Wherever I travel I always ask where the nearest Greek diner is. And by the way, for those who complain prices were high, you are totally wrong. check prices in other places, fast food places and any Greek diner ....diner prices are always competitive and practically the same. Don't know what you...
