Oh,where to begin? First off, I LOVE BREAKFAST DINERS! My favorite meal anytime. Service: ok . Not super attentive but it was really busy .. she also didn’t ignore us. I give a 5 star because EVERYONE there hustled. (1:30 pm Sunday 2-4-24) I saw everyone working there ,working as a team . :-) Atmosphere: There are a few signs up that put me in a negative mindset. “ NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALLOWED / NO EXCEPTIONS”. Ok, great , there are people who need their special food and still want to go out with their family .. they won’t go here ! “No LOITERING”. , I get it .. but really that big of a sign? Right next to this was “ blah blah children are horrible and must be kept under control “ Paraphrasing obviously .. may as well have read “ KEEP YOUR BRATS ON A LEASH WITH A MUZZLE”
“ We reserve the right to refuse service… blah blah” Yes , that is fine .. but these negative signs were BIG and right in a row . I felt unwelcome by the lecturing of the wall. Think of it like this, you come to my home and I am so “excited” ( because Bob and Edith are in a business and must be excited to have your business/$$) so as you enter I say “ oh your children, please put them behind this gate and I shouldn’t hear them. If you say something I don’t like , I will kick you out. And stay for only 43 mins. Nah, you would be like .. I’m outie ! FOOD : Did I mention I LOVE Breakfast? I am not sure if I got a combo or everything ala carte. My hubby had the Country Fried Steak and 2 eggs with toast. EXCELLENT . This was delicious.( I had 2 big bites and contemplated how I could steal the rest without him noticing. ) I appreciate that there was not TOO much gravy . Also the breading stayed on ( I hate it when it falls off and you get greasy breading dangling on your fork !) Truly , Chicken Fried Steak .. 5 stars.
I had French toast. 2 large half pieces. 8.95 I believe. No fruit , no whipped topping….. It was good but a little high for JUST the French toast and a dab of butter . It was good, cooked well. Syrup from a squirt bottle … not a fan of the squirt bottle. 2 eggs over medium . No salt/ No pepper. Yes there were shakers and I understand the reason letting the customer season the eggs themselves….. but the home fries, not seasoned with salt or pepper … I added cheese and green pepper. ( 1.95 each ) A FREAKING SLICE OF GENERIC FAKE KRAFT CHEESE FOOD Was plopped on top and not microwaved all the way cause I could clearly see the slice. The breakfast angels weep at such an atrocity ~ so is everyone in Wisconsin. The green peppers? Nicely diced , about a tablespoon , maybe close to 2 … plunked, thrown or otherwise dumped on top .. ON TOP . Not cooked with the home fries.. Along with cheese being partially nuked and not cooked with home fries.. Not 1.95 each value .. the home fries just themselves were good. Bacon. Excellent. But the fake cheese food .. and charging us 1.95 ???
CRANBERRY JUICE 4.95 …. Seriously.
The breakfast, in a diner for 2 people…
$51 bucks plus tip .
For Breakfast .. basic breakfast … no salmon, no mimosa, nothing fancy. Freaking $$$$ 51.
Since I don’t go partying till 3 am I won’t have to worry about this being the only game in town at 3am .. I don’t see a return in the future. Yes, prices are going up , but just 2 weeks ago we ate at Yorkshire and had about the same thing. $35, WITH TIP .
I could have made all of this at home. I should have, the bite on the wallet leaves a bad taste...
Read moreWaited since Nov 2023 for opening. Several delays. The website was never updated w/Manassas loc until recently. Would have been nice to find the status on the website. In 2024, IDK why you wouldn’t do that. SOP. Disappointing to learn from out-of-towners the loc finally opened.
Loc is way too small to properly service Manassas. This was obvious back in November 2023.
Constantly a grouping at the door waiting to get in. Bit the bullet on the 3rd wknd trying to get in and decided to wait. Semi-fortunately, got in right away with the last 2 open seats. Overall observation post-experience: didn’t see anyone waiting more than 10mins… at the door that is. Sitting was a different story.
Food/Experience: Due to the tile and glass, it’s loud inside. Music on top of that (please play something more catchy, or classic dinner themed). The table seating down the center seems would have been better fitted with a dual column of compartmented booths that would be comfortable, and seat more people.
Initial service was rushed but attentive. Beverages came quickly; however, it was +20mins until anyone came around with coffee/water refill. Yet, employees constantly going back and forth. Service was friendly.
I noticed majority of the customers waiting on food. Adjacent customer was about to walk-out hungry and p!ssed. Was half-hour for food to be served. I know it’s busy, but what’s frustrating is customers who arrive after you, getting served first.
Eggs: did ‘em right. Hashbrowns: grease, no seasoning, no flavor. Sausage: Hot & greasy cooled down to no flavor. Half-suspect I was served 1 pork & 2 turkey patties just to get the order out. The country ham… paper thin and big hole in the middle. Looked like a ragged meat jigsaw puzzle. I’ve been served better country ham, everywhere. My toast was never served. Not worth $15.09 plus taxes, at all. Spouse’s order cost less and had more food. Spouse’s toast served was the kind ordered. Spouse’s food verdict: no flavor.
Was excited for this to open. Heard great things. Open 24/7 in this town- Amazing! Unfortunately, it was disappointing.
Since it’s new and they clearly didn’t plan to be overwhelmed, I think it will be fair to try again in several months and check for improvement; providing a follow-up review.
Add-Note: All you locals who praised for years, so highly, of the long-standing local eateries- I see how quickly you dropped your loyalty card and ran for the new & shiny. It was...
Read moreOur evening at Bob and Edith was a delightful journey into the world of pancakes, waffles, and unparalleled hospitality. The staff greeted us warmly from the moment we entered, setting the stage for a memorable dining experience.
First, let's talk about the pancakes. The blueberry pancakes were a masterpiece of fluffiness and flavor. Each pancake was perfectly golden-brown, with a generous scattering of plump, juicy blueberries that burst with sweetness in every bite. The texture was light yet satisfying, and the subtle hint of vanilla in the batter elevated the dish to another level. Every forkful was pure bliss, topped with a dollop of whipped butter and a drizzle of maple syrup.
Next, the Belgian waffle was a revelation. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, it was a symphony of textures. The waffle was generously dusted with powdered sugar and accompanied by a side of fresh berries and a decadent swirl of whipped cream. The combination of crunchy waffle edges and soft, airy interior made for a perfect contrast, creating a sensory experience that delighted the palate.
What truly set this dining experience apart, however, was the exceptional service. The staff at bob and Edith were attentive and knowledgeable, providing recommendations with genuine enthusiasm. They anticipated our needs, ensuring our glasses were never empty and promptly addressing any requests we had. Their warmth and professionalism enhanced our enjoyment of the meal, making us feel welcomed and valued throughout our visit.
In conclusion, dinner at bob and Edith was an absolute delight. From the heavenly pancakes and waffles to the impeccable service, every aspect of our experience exceeded expectations. Whether you're a pancake enthusiast, a waffle aficionado, or simply someone who appreciates top-notch hospitality, bob and Edith is a...
