My boyfriend and I came her for a double-date on New Year's Eve. I believe I had eaten here once or twice before and I don't recall disliking it, but obviously this place has gone downhill since I last patronized it. It was one of the most awful experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. We were not greeted when we walked in the door. After a few minutes when one of us walked right up to the hostess stand we were finally acknowledged. After our 10-minute wait the hostess sat us at our table and then literally just walked away. Never in my life have I ever been to a restaurant where I was seated and the hostess didn't say "your waiter will be right with you" or "enjoy your meal" or SOMETHING. Service was very slow. Our waitress was an older woman and although she wasn't rude, her demeanor was not very pleasant - it was very blasé. It took a long time to receive our drinks. Our friend's date ordered a strawberry daiquiri - what she was got was a very bland glass of crushed ice and rum - it wasn't even pink or red - it was more a pale peach color. I took it back to the bar and asked if someone could remake it for - the bar was a bit noisy, which was fine but the bartender I spoke to spoke quietly and just kind of acted like he wanted me to go away - quickly agreeing to fix the drink and bring it to our table. At least 20 minutes later the drink had still not been brought back. Again, it took a while for us to get our food. We arrived a little over an hour before they were to close, and received our food 15 minutes before they were to close. I ordered a side of asparagus that was brought to me on a plate that was smaller than the food and when the waiter sat it down, the asparagus was touching the table. My steak was not the greatest quality - I barely ate half of it and only did so because I was starving by this point. My mashed potatoes were crusty around the edges. Our friend's date ordered her steak medium-rare and received it rare. My boyfriend ordered a sauce that was supposed to be made table-side and sizzling - he received it in a container with a film developed over top of it as if it was old and had been microwaved. Needless to say, I was disgusted and felt robbed of my money, to be honest. Normally I am the type of person who would voice my complaints right away while there, but that is because it's usually only one or two things that are wrong - I did not want to be the person to complain about 14 different things. I will likely never eat here...
Read moreWent out with my boyfriend for his birthday dinner. Out of all the restaurants in the vicinity we chose longhorn to celebrate. I ordered the 14oz Delmonico ribeye medium well. Food finally comes out and the steak is bleeding, not medium well at all, didn't take 1 bite. Called the manager over he came by telling the blood is the juice of the steak. I said that's blood not juice and this is not medium well. He offered to take the steak back and have it cooked more to which I agreed.
Finally the plate comes back with a different manager and not even half of my steak is on my plate. I asked him where the rest of my steak is as I ordered the 14oz and didn't take a single bite. All of a sudden the 1st manager is running over to the table with a piece of steak that is not the rest of my piece. I told them this was absolutely ridiculous and they offered to cook a new steak. 2nd manager said he would "take care" of my steak. So now I'm sitting here at dinner watching my boyfriend eat while I'm waiting for this restaurant to figure themselves out.
Finally the next plate comes out with the 1st manager and he asks me to cut into it to make sure it's right. Cut into it and it's bleeding again. Frustrated I told him this is not medium well and I want to speak to the other manager since this managers attitude was a could care less one. While I am waiting for that manager my waitress comes by to see if everything turned out ok now. As soon as she got to the table she started shaking her head in acknowledgment that the steak indeed was not medium well.
The other manager finally comes by and I show him the steak and at this point I've had it I told him to take it away and I don't want it at all. At this point I'm so frustrated at this experience that I'm literally in tears. He took the plate away and shortly comes back with 2 gift certificates for $10 each, apologizing that they have messed up 3 times and this should not have happened and offered to have dessert brought out. I told him I didn't want anything and I highly doubt we will ever be returning to this restaurant. He said he didn't want me to leave hungry and he's really sorry.
We paid for my boyfriends meal and left. I don't understand how a steakhouse does not know how to properly cook a steak. We will definitely never be returning to this location and corporate will be hearing...
Read moreThree of us went, on March 20,2025, to the Longhorn Steakhouse in Manassas. The interior of the restaurant is very attractive, and seating is quite comfortable.
We were seated and a server came to our table. She asked if we wanted drinks. One of us asked for a cup of coffee. It was completely cold. One ordered hot tea, and the other ordered a soda.
She returned and took our food order. One person ordered a T-bone steak, medium rare, and two of us ordered the rib-eye steak medium.
Our dinner arrived in a timely manner. The T-bone was cooked well DONE and it was quite tough. One rib-eye was as ordered. The other rib eye looked like the cook was not paying attention or was just angry. It was extremely salted and the salt/seasoning was very visible. The rice pilaf was heavily salted/seasoned.
Our server said that she would get the manager. He looked at the T-bone and said it was obviously cooked well done. He said that he could see the excessive salt/seasoning on the rib-eye. Both steaks were replaced.
Both the server and manager apologized. We certainly would not blame the server who unfortunately is the first person to hear when something is not correct.
I did not finish my replacement rib-eye. My enthusiasm had greatly diminished. We had kind words for the server and she was tipped 25%. We could imagine her exasperation with this experience.
I did the online Darden Restaurants survey. Towards the end of it there was an apology about our experience. It had would you like us to contact you. I checked the “yes” and certainly listed my email and home phone number. It is now 4 days later and no email or phone call. We understand that no one in business wants to hear negative comments. Perhaps their survey should not suggest that they might contact an upset guest. It would seem that the “contact” a disgruntled guest is simply listed as a part of advertising or making the company to appear to care.
The three of us have been in management positions during our careers. One of us was the Assistant Manager of one of the critically acclaimed hotels in the world. Our overall experience at the Longhorn Steakhouse makes us not anxious to explore this or another Longhorn restaurant. It was a very disappointing experience. The next visit to Northern Virginia we will very likely explore other...
