This is EASILY one of the BEST "REAL" AUTHENTIC tasting Jamaican Restaurants in CT.
It was a very happy accident that I stumbled into Anthony's Jamaican Restaurant several years back!!! I was actual in the plaza for other food at the time, but my order was not ready, so I took a short walk. It was early in the day and there was an unbelievable aroma in the air. It smelled "Mouth-Watering"!!! I followed the aroma to the 1st day GRAND OPENING of Anthony's Jamaican Restaurant! I walked in and I was instantly greeted by Anthony himself. After some friendly small talk, Anthony asked me if I had ever had Jamaican food. From the pleasant smell coming from the kitchen, I had to admit I had not. He asked if I wanted to give it a try, and I had to say I only brought enough cash that day to purchase the food I had came for, but I took a few menus are promised to return!! Without any hesitation, Anthony asked me to wait a few seconds as he dashed into the back. I know my other order had to have been ready, but I agreed, and off to the kitchen he went. Next thing I heard were pots and pans clanging and plates sliding on counter tops and a charismatic gentleman happily humming and singing away. Then, after a short time he reappeared. Not with just a small single portion of food in a styrofoam box, NO NO NO!!! Anthony had two large bags with MANY samples of EVERYTHING they had!!!!I I tried to politely refuss the overly generous offer, but the smell of the food and the Anthony's genuine charm made that absolutely futile!!! So I GRACIOUSLY accepted his over-whelming offer and left to pick up my original order. When I had returned to the office, my colleagues were simply amazed at the BOUNTY I had returned with. Suffice to say, Anthony's food was slowly and thoroughly enjoyed, but completely devoured, while the original order was being picked at for the next two days and eventually tossed!!!
Anthony's Jamaican Restaurant has become a Special treat day Reward for me and the crew whenever we have a GREAT work day, which is more often now!!!

Read moreFirst & DEFINITELY THE LAST TIME.....6/26/21 @ around 5pm walked in to order some food who ever the "chick" was behind the counter was very stand offish & dismissive. Like me asking her questions & her speaking back cost her something. Then she put the food in the container like she was upset about it. When I asked for extra gravy she threw it on there as if it was a problem for her. Worse customer service. Off that alone I'd never spend another penny there let alone waste my time thinking about them as a food option. So you'd think for all that bad service the food would atleast be decent. Oxtail was last place when compared to restaurants around I frequent, just bland. Rice was under cooked or reheated either way it was a little hard & dry (good thing I insisted on extra gravy). The fried dumpling was hard as a rock on the outside & dry & dense on the inside. My order was a small & it came up to $13! I should've just went to Negrils a couple doors down. That's what I get for trying something new. Worse $13 dollars I ever spent, mostly because of the customer service usually I give second chances for subpar food but that "chick" blew that chance. It's a shame I like to make it a point to support black owned businesses. NOTICE this is the only review I've ever done so think about how repulsive her trashy customer service must have been for me to put this food down to write this essay to warn others about this "chick's"...
Read moreAnthony's Jamaican Restaurant is a gem! The staff are always friendly and accommodating from the start. I typically order meals for 2-4 people, and the portions are generous, with an authentic taste that never disappoints. They also seem to have the most popular dishes available even towards the end of the day, which is a rarity for many restaurants.
Recently, I had the chance to try their catering services. On short notice, they prepared a delicious breakfast for me and a small family gathering. The food was fantastic, very affordable, and everyone ate well and complimented the meal.
As for the atmosphere, I can't comment too much since I usually grab and go, but the space is always clean, the food is properly covered, and the staff are professional and personable. While there are a few tables and chairs, it feels more like a storefront setup than a sit-down restaurant.
Highly recommend for authentic Jamaican food, whether you're dining solo, feeding a group, or...
