Colburn Cafe — Restaurant in Manchester

My husband and I stopped in for a small lunch (as promoted in the cafe window). We ordered a cup of soup, grilled cheese, and breakfast burrito, and we were asked if a 20 minute wait for food would be okay. Being on vacation and not in hurry, we said that was fine. We ended up waiting over an hour for our food without any explanation or apology.

Watching the team, they moved quickly getting out drinks and soups, but they also told many people 20-30 minutes for food that took far longer to come out.They should probably just stick with what they’re good at— drinks and pastries.

The food was tasty, but not anything exciting...

I'm a local and brought some out of town friends in for coffee today and was really disappointed by how rude the staff was to us :( I've worked the food service industry my whole life and I'm always kind and a good tipper. There was no reason to treat my friends (all lovely young women from Germany) so poorly. One of them was actually too afraid to ask for the vanilla flavor in her coffee when it was forgotten. Such a bummer. I'll be suggesting other places to friends...

I stop nearby to charge my car and found this place only after trying a couple of others nearby. It's definitely my favorite. They serve excellent coffee, their baking is good and they use nice mugs and china if you're staying there.

It's also delightful to spend time there. They have small tables both in the main serving area, where shelves are filled with an eclectic mix of old books, and elsewhere scattered within the bookstore.
