Hands down, this ranks among the top breakfast spots in Vermont. We ventured here based on the glowing reviews, and I'm pleased to say that this place exceeded our high expectations. It's a charming family-owned establishment with cheerful staffs. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome. They serve excellent coffee, and it's bottomless!
Now, let's talk about their blueberry pancakes – they're an absolute must-try. The fluffy pancakes themselves are a culinary marvel, and the gentle sweetness of the blueberries elevates them to another level. To make matters even better, they're served with Vermont maple syrup, which takes the taste experience to new heights. As for the scrambled eggs and sausage, they may be simple, but they're prepared to perfection. The sausage, in particular, possessed a unique Vermont flavor and, most importantly, had that genuine meaty taste that discerning palates can appreciate.
A quick note: this place is cash-only, so be sure to have some cash on hand. It tends to fill up rapidly in the mornings, especially during the ski season. If you'd like to avoid waiting out in the cold, consider arriving early to relish a delightful breakfast...
Read more"Up For Breakfast" is on Main Street, one must walk up a set of stairs to find this gem. I'm guessing one must go up is that the food is truly " Heaven Sent". Look I'm a Foodie, breakfast here makes me warm and fuzzy and just plain jealous I have to travel north to get it. The inside is a classic style VT eatery, tables and a small counter looking into a "magic" kitchen. The reason its magic is, owner Bonnie Bruce obviously must be a graduate of "Hogwarts" for only Witchcraft and Wizardry could produce such results. Pancakes ...Blueberry pear pecan buttermilk pancakes that is. Strawberry cream cheese croissant French toast topped with warm bananas, brown sugar and almonds O my ! Brie, apple wood smoked bacon, tomato and baby spinach on a grilled croissant topped with poached eggs and dill hollandaise. Look, one must keep with the specials. They do have a regular menu but leave that to the Philistines. If Bonnie is coming up with something special give thanks and order one. Now if you planned on having lunch later, wrong ! unless of course your a food eating champion or just Billy Bunter. Trust me making a "bucket list" Up For Breakfast needs to be on it. Thank you Bonnie your my...
Read moreFood Food quality / price (value) rating 10. The atmosphere is casual & laid back. Plan on waiting a little while for a table because this place is very popular with the locals, and attended extensively by visitors to the area. They only serve breakfast and brunch, and have limited hours, so check to he sure they're open. The owners, Amy and her husband are typically in house, with Amy running the front, and her husband running the kitchen. Amy's background includes a stint as a "service trainer", teaching people how to improve customer service, and she obviously lives by that mantra. I had the "Hungry Hiker", two eggs any style, bakery fresh rye, wheat, or sour-dough toast, two strips of bacon, two sausages, and two pancakes with genuine Vermont pure maple syrup. Everything was high quality, prepared and presented nicely, and very hot. The wife had the "Farmers Omelette", and it was also excellent. The service was excellent and very timely. They have a typical diner breakfast menu, but with some very, very interesting spins on your standard expectations. (See the "Specials Menu" photo.). The prices were very reasonable, but it is "cash only". Highly...
