My mom and dad took my daughter and I out for breakfast for my birthday. I've been looking to try different places instead of going to the same old same old and this place had a quirky name and a varied menu. As you can see from the outdoor shot, the staircase is what is known as a welcome staircase which is a southern architectural design feature meant to welcome travelers coming from anywhere. I had to take a picture of the entryway which features a rabbit who greets you at the door. The industrial design of the interior harkens back to when this was the functioning Waumbec Mill. The old wood has a new life as the beautiful golden oak interior which is warm and homey. My daughter and I both got the California breakfast sandwich, my mom got the Denver omelet and my dad got The Waterworks. The staff is very friendly and even gave us a comedy show while we were waiting for our food. It is a very friendly, welcoming, down to earth, family environment which I would highly recommend. The food was delicious, hot, and filling. My daughter and I ended up taking home half of our sandwiches to enjoy later. Do yourself a favor and check this place out, but be mindful, they are only open for breakfast and lunch. There is also a handicapped entrance on the side as the entry to the actual Cafe is around the back with...

DON'T GO HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! They will roll their eyes at you and ignore what you said and put it in anyway.

I have repeatedly had issues with this cafe. I have made it a point to mention on the phone that I am allergic to pickles, and asked that the be no pickles in contact with my food. In fact I had avoided this company for about 3 months for the same issue. However, today I was very hungry, so I gave it a shot.

This time, I was smart enough to check before paying (the young lady rolled her eyes at me and said that the receipt said 'no pickles), and it is a good thing I did, as there was a pickle right on top of both fries and my sandwich. If a customer is telling you they have an allergy, do not roll your eyes and smirk at them.

The food is also overpriced, and the quality is lacking. I chipped a toorh on a day old rice krispie treat not knowing when I bought it that it was rock hard (this was 3...

It was definitely your location. I was there for a reception after a memorial service yesterday, July 3, 2021. My husband ordered my 2 drinks from the bar. I don't know how they were dispensed. I never indicated they were from a soda gun. At the end of the day, I was only rating the food from the reception, which I know is difficult to keep warm/cold/fresh (that is why I indicated in my initial review that I could not fairly judge your regular menu).

Original Review

It was ok. I was there for a reception so I had typical hors d’ oeuvres. The temperature was off. Items that should have been hot were cold or room temperature. However, since the food was buffet style I don't think it is fair to judge their menu based on my experience. The drinks (soft drinks) were also really watered down and lacking in carbonation. With that being said, the staff was kind and attentive and the...

At a time when many local restaurants are going downhill, Waterworks Cafe keeps cranking the standards upwards. Visit and experience it for yourself. To illustrate: 1. Never have I been disappointed with the food. This is my local favorite for sandwiches, so lunchtime is generally when I visit. But the breakfast, options, particularly the flavorful omelettes, are also excellent. 2. The aesthetic of a renovated mill combines a spacious dining area with a sense of comfortable intimacy. This restaurant is usually quiet making it perfect for any kind of gathering. The only downside to the location is the usual difficulty of finding parking, but this should be expected in the Millyard anyway. 3. Staff are wonderful and are ready to go out of their way to help you. This place seems to have a very positive culture.

Used to really enjoy eating here but over the past few weeks the quality of their food has decreased drastically. I have been a loyal customer for months spending $13+ for lunch every time but I refuse to spend any more of my money here as the quality is just not there. The fries taste like they’re from McDonalds (they used to be fresh and seasoned) and the produce is just gross. The avocado used on my club was brown, I would’ve rather it be left off because it ruined the sandwich. I emailed with my concerns, including pictures and I got no response. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere! Picture of brown avocado and hair on my sandwich included. Edit 11/16 - No response from the owner, such a joke. Goes to show how they care.
