Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester, NH for a few beers & a delicious badass burger. I had been here for a few beers way back in those awful days of Covid in September 2021, so I was definitely due to check it out in better times. There was a great beer selection that had a few new offerings I hadn't had, including a house lager from a great local New Hampshire brewery. I was in the mood to try a handful of styles & luckily it wasn't difficult with a decent array from light beers, IPAs, sours, witbier, stouts, porters & a large variety of cider options. They had some of the usual New England staples as well including Lone Pine OH-J, BOOMSAUCE from Lord Hobo, Lawson's SIP OF SUNSHINE & one of my personal favorites FIDDLEHEAD IPA. 🍻🍻πŸ”₯

The three pints I scooped were all good, but the DIPA I ended my visit with was easily the winner here. I started with a pour of the house beer STRANGE BREW LAGER from Great North Aleworks. It was nice & crisp, a good starter for sure. Not positive if it's a original recipe for Strange Brew Tavern or a renamed lager Great North distributes itself. The second pint was the CORE Cider from High Limb Cider that was a above average dry cider with a ton of sweetness, I could taste the diabetes beginning to ravage my body. The final pour was my favorite in the GIGANTIC DAD PANTS DIPA from Cushnoc Brewing Co., a phenomenal New England hazy that was full of the citrus goodness my pallet craves. 🍻🍺πŸ’ͺπŸ†

All the seating options here including a decent amount of bar stools, hightops, tables & outdoor seating during warmer weather. They have a full bar & offered a flight option to try a handful of beers which my friend got. The Strange Brew Burger I ordered was awesome & massive especially when I added pulled pork on it. I had to literally unhinge my jaw like I was a boa constrictor & slowly take it in bite by bite. It held together impressively well with all the gimmicks on it including that extra mound of pulled pork. Definitely recommend checking that burger out, it was worth every cent in my opinion. Our bartender Kelsey was super friendly & attentive over the two plus hours we were there taking up bar space. A great experience overall & definitely worth checking out for any beer & burger enthusiast like myself. 🍻πŸ’ͺπŸ”βœŒβ™₯️🍺

Fun Atmosphere, a Little Loud, Slow Service

We came for a "Team Dinner" with coworkers on Open Mic Night. It was fun, laid back, and had a solid group of regulars. My male coworkers enjoyed the beer selection.

There are books all around the bar, and not just for decoration: I picked up a Mitch Albom book while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive.

Our party was larger than average; so we called ahead and made a reservation; but for whatever reason, it still took nearly two hours for our food to arrive. 😬

My burger was tasty but a little on the sad side: I had to wait a little bit to post this review because I didn't want it tied to my work group...

I wouldn't recommend a party of any larger than 5 coming here.

And maybe, if the owner could turn the speakers down a little, too? Our server said they couldn't do anything about it. πŸ™

Great potential. And we did have fun. Just, could use some...

I really liked this place! It was spacious like a restaurant yet it had the feel of a tavern. There is a stage area for live music, although there are baffles up so that the music doesn't overwhelm conversation if you don't want to listen to the music. (I drove an hour to get to this venue to see a band out of Boston that is on fire right now... I think that says something about the caliber of Music this place pulls in.) The band schedule is posted on the taverns website. LARGE selection of whiskey, bourbon, single malts, all that kind of stuff. And a FULL PAGE of beers on tap. And it was a big page. the waitress and hostess this night were a perfect mix of attentive and friendly without being annoying. Very good staff. I believe there was free popcorn. I had some munchies, it was good. I checked out the menu online before I went there. Parking was on the street, had no problems getting spot about...

The place is great. The people who work there are awesome. I was there to see the Racky Thomas Band, and they kicked ass. I had a lot of fun. I had the chicken chili...the chicken was a little tough, and the red peppers seemed like they were over microwaved or something. I'm not going to judge a place for one thing,..so I'll definitely go back and try something else.
