PJ's Coffee — Restaurant in Mandeville

Was in town for Christmas and went twice to this location. The first time the people weren’t super nice but not plain rude so whatever. Second time I went inside, there was a woman bent down working on the cash register who didn’t look at me or say a word to me for 5 or so minutes. Then, a sweet young girl who looked like the only one working asked me what I would like so I told her. Then an older woman walked up and asked what I wanted and I asked her if the scones had eggs. She started playing with the girl fixing the register’s hair and said “probably” and that’s it. I said I looked it up and most scones don’t and instead of asking and trying to help me (btw, the website says these are made fresh in house daily), she just said dismissively “wouldn’t chance it.” So I said okay, she said “what do you want” and I said “someone else already helped me with my drink. Honestly terrible customer service and seems like employees with chips of their shoulders, minus the sweet younger girl, which is the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Not to mention, the coffee isn’t very good...

At 9:50am on 9/11/24 , I pulled into the drive-thru line for PJs on Highway 22. It was a very long line and I waited 10 to 15 minutes before I got to the order box. By the time I was up to order I was told the shop was closed and they're not taking anymore orders. I waited in line for 15 minutes but no Granita for me. I was stuck in the line until the person in front of me received their order until I could leave. I feel like someone should have come out to the cars and told us that the store was closing before we got trapped in the drive-thru for no reason and no ability to order. Guess I’ll go to Starbucks but I’ll order on...

Maybe I’m biased because I worked here from 2006-2010 but I still go out of my way from near St. Paul’s in Covington (yes, there’s like 3 up the street from me) to get my coffee from highway 22. The pastries are always fresh and they always get my pain in the behind order correct. Of course highway 21 location is also just as fantastic, I just thoroughly enjoy 22’s location. The patio in the back is still so quaint and lovely. Again, maybe I’m biased as a former employee…or because this location is just the best. More so because they...
