We just moved here a month ago and I discovered Radina's shortly after arriving. The coffee is great and we've come every couple days for a coffee, bakery and lunch fix. Generally if we're just getting coffee, it's quick and painless but it seems with each new visit the service has just dropped a little at a time. Which is really sad because I really like this place.
The last two visits have been by far the worst. We called ahead a sandwich order for pickup at the drive through. Even with only one person ahead of me it actually took us almost 5 min just to pick up what was already ordered ahead of time. And I was really disappointed with the fact that I ordered it hot and after we drove away, I realized they gave me a cold sandwich. Didn't have time to turn around and go fix it.
The most recent visit, I ordered a number of sandwiches. This time I walked in and ordered because I wanted to make sure the order was 100% correct. I ordered all hot sandwiches. After waiting nearly 20 min, I checked the bag they handed me and they were all cold sandwiches. So they took them back and I waited another 7 min for them to throw them on a toaster and return them to me. Unfortunately I assumed the chips we ordered were correct and I didn't check... I should have because not all were correct.
In the process of waiting, I stood at the end of the counter with the drinks container, and about 10 min in, I shuffled the drink container over to see a lot of liquid had spilled out from the container a over the counter. The cups had been over filled, spilled into the container and out over the counter. I'm glad that happened there instead of all over my car
I just really don't think we'll continue to order lunch from here. Coffee is spot on so for sure we will keep ordering that but lunch just seems to be a real miss which is sad because the sandwiches actually appear to be good when actually made to the correct order. Just not worth the hassle of having to triple check to make sure it was...
Read moreI had heard fantastic things about Radina’s, and I love to support small, American businesses, but unfortunately this local shop sells low quality goods and the owner is unstable.
My wife had a negative experience in-store (flies in the display case, rude employees), the mocha she ordered was weak, and the baked goods she brought home and we ate together were decidedly bland.
We bought a small loaf of bread that tasted like crusty sawdust; we each had a slice and gave the rest to our dogs.
We then shared a chocolate peanut butter bar and a lemon pastry (that the owner claims he doesn’t sell) which both looked good, but were bland and cheap tasting. One tasted like generic peanut butter watered-down with sugar and the other was nearly flavorless except for a hint of zesty chemicals.
My wife posted an honest two-star review expressing her legitimate disappointment and the owner, Wade Radina, decided to make a snarky reply. He claimed that she had never been to his establishment, he made ad hominem attacks against her cognitive ability, and he claimed that she doesn’t support small businesses because she said Starbucks food tastes better.
My wife made a comparison to a globally successful brand because it provides a well-known measure of quality, or lack there of.
Wade, your small business is worse than a mediocre international chain that serves mass-produced frozen goods. You should be embarrassed. A small business should pride themselves on quality and customer service. You have failed to deliver either. It’s a shame.
I recommend all patrons of Radina’s read the replies that the owner posts in response to all negative reviews. Instead of acknowledging criticism and valuing his community and their input, he attacks people and accepts no responsibility for his establishment, or any possible shortcomings.
I’m sure he is equally toxic and abusive to his employees if he acts this way to...
Read moreLast night we went to the Christmas Light Festival in Manhattan and stopped by Radina’s. It was very busy with a long line wrapped throughout the cafe. We waited in line about 25 minutes before I ordered a muffin and Black Forest. As I waited for my drink several people that had ordered behind me were receiving their mochas. I noticed the young lady making drinks glance at me a couple times, so she knew I had been there for a while. Finally I approached the young lady making the hot drinks and told her 6 drinks ordered after mine were already made. She rolled her eyes and replied “what was it you ordered, again?” I just went to the counter and ask the man at the register for a coffee refund. The lady then began telling me, “I’m making your drink right now, I have it right here.” Weird that she suddenly knew what I ordered. She then became upset and said sorry she got things mixed up but it’s busy! I realize it was busy, I felt badly asking for a refund which held the line an extra minute and wish I would have just walked out. Ive always enjoyed Radina’s but the past few times haven’t been the best, although nothing like this incident. I will not be returning to any of the Radina’s in the future and I know this isn’t a big deal for the owners as the business does well. Staff should be better trained and this falls on management. You really shouldn’t be working with the public if you are just a blatantly rude individual.
Update to Mr. Radina, Why even respond to a customer’s review if you’re going to be passive aggressive. I’m sure your barista was competent in making a latte, just not mine. To insinuate I’m lying by stating your barista had a different account of the incident is just ridiculous. Of course she would have a different account. She surely wouldn’t cop to the owner at being deliberately rude. Also, there is no shortage of coffeehouses around this area but your...
