Was starved, at an emergency vet clinic nearby, this diner was recommended and it’s hard to go wrong with a diner. The outside was quite dirty, threshold, door, window, and handle but inside relatively clean. Air on full blast, which is important later. Sat next to a family, only place where cold air not blowing, just as they were asking waitress to take back two dishes that were cold, for which she apologized profusely. There was one other table with two women. I ordered eggs over easy, toast and bacon. Came with hash browns. Only the hash browns were hot, everything else lukewarm at best. Bacon unchewable. Had to spit it out in napkin cause couldn’t chew it! Eggs weren’t over easy, they were barely cooked, egg white inside completely transparent. But I was hungry so I dipped the toast in the yolk, from which I had to take off butter cause toast was cold when buttered. When waitress came back I asked her to take cost of bacon off cause it was inedible, that everything but potatoes were lukewarm, and eggs barely cooked but I was hungry so I ate. Her reply? “Well you asked for over easy and that’s what you got” and “your food was hot when I brought it out. “ I told her over easy isn’t barely cooked and she said (honest) “then I guess you don’t know how to cook eggs” she left the check and walked away. I went to the register, made sure she eliminated the cost of the bacon, and told her that in spite of the cold food and undercooked egg I was going to leave a tip anyway until she started arguing with me. She said “well I don’t put up with rudeness.” !!!! How was that rude? And no I did not raise my voice or swear. First time I never left a tip, ever. And then to top it all off the cook came out and said have a nice day, quite sarcastically. And so did she! And then I did mouth “f you.” Wow. Horrible experience. Horrible food. And for the record I only eat my eggs over easy or scrambled. These barely touched the...
Read moreI seriously don't understand what most others find impressive about this eatery. So far, the most overpriced and underserving diner in my life. Even Wafflehouse is much cheaper and tastes fresher.
I called to double check if it's still ok to dine in at the last hour given that many kitchens close a bit earlier then. The person who answered said just come on in because they meant they stop seating or taking people in by their advertised closing time. It was Saturday night and the place was empty. I should've taken it as a red flag in the first place because I know a diner is good when it's crowded on a Friday or Saturday night even around close.
Service was satisfactory. According to our server of the night, it was her first day. Understandable she had to double check with her coworker to pass on menu clarifications. They were being professional as possible.
My date ordered a cheesesteak sub with fries and I ordered chicken tenders with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. I tasted freezer burn in the tenders and broccoli. Mashed potato was unevenly mashed. Not to mention pretty bland.
According to my date (and I agree after trying a bite of her order), cheesesteak and fries were bland. Although having mayo in cheesesteak is typically the norm, having marinara sauce with it instead didn't sound farfetched to me. Adding ketchup and salt to the fries and salt to cheesteak with marinara salvaged things a bit.
Honestly the only items with any flavor to begin with were pretty much the soft drinks we ordered.
Portions weren't even really satisfying given our check totalled to $28. I should've paid attention to any other 1- or 2-star reviews about this place instead of just being sold on the overall...
Read more(This is a warning!) I was excited to be going here for breakfast, they have many interesting selections to choose from, I ordered the signature breakfast, French toast topped with slices of pears and covered with a honey cinnamon sauce, when it arrives at the table I noticed that it didn't have any sauce on it and so I asked where is the sauce that comes with it and the waitress thought I meant the pancake syrup and tried to offer me it, I explained to her what I ordered comes with its own sauce and that I was not looking for pancake syrup, So she went to the back and after a few minutes came back with the correct source for the order I placed.
But before I could start eating I noticed that the fork I was given was dirty, now I worked in a restaurant before and I know about water marks, one of the things we were taught to do was to make sure that all the silverware was polished so that no customer would think that it was dirty, so knowing the difference between a dirty fork and one that has water marks on it from the dishwasher, I was able to see that the fork I was given was dirty, I pointed this out to the waitress, she did eventually get back to me with a clean fork to eat with.
Besides this, it is winter and I noticed that it was getting cold in the restaurant, and I had to put my coat back on and sit with it as I eat uncomfortably, but it's not because they didn't have heat, the whole time we were sitting there it was cold, but the second everyone started getting up to leave, the heat went on and started to warm up the restaurant very quickly, unfortunately we were already done eating. I think they do this so that people eat quickly and get out, 2 star rating because of their food choices,...
