Omg yall must try this tex mex place it's so yummy. 😋 Nice quality, really fresh and they keep it coming with the chips n salsa. You know a place has to be good when they're literally right by a Mexican meat market and a well known highly rated butcher(Texas Slabs). The customer service was outstanding a huge thank you to our waitress. She was fabulous wish I could remember your name but thank you for attending to our table. You were great. Ordered steak fajitas nachos as the app. As you can guess we attacked that ate it in like 5 seconds I swear. My 6yro ordered a chicken quesadilla My 11yro ordered the steak fajitas they had on their Sunday special. My husband ordered the Mexican pork chops plus two ala cart chicken sour cream and cheese enchiladas. I ordered the steak ala ranchera ooo that was good. Only thing I would do next time to make it more my taste would get it medium rare. Although I didn't order it any different than it came. Both my husband and I got flour tortillas with our meals along with my sons fajitas so we basically had more than enough tortillas and they were like super fresh homemade flour tortillas. 😋 Did I mention that they did not skimp on the chips n salsa they really did not skimp on anything and so thank you guys we were starved from shopping all day(back to school). Me being big and pregnant well I'm always hungry but today yall satisfied my hunger.(happy customer) I would've ordered a Dessert after our meal but we were way too stuffed 😄 You know the portion sizes are big if my big bellied self can't finish it all 🤣 We basically ate a ton of food and had lots of leftovers so we took it all home since we'll eat it tomorrow for lunch. Oh funny thing was we forgot our food on the bench outside and no one took it. It's like they knew we were gonna come back for it. I bet we're not the only ones whose done that in the past. Thank yall for a great satisfying meal.
Edit: my son got sick a few hours after eating his food. He was the only one out of us that threw up. I'm not deleting any stars, maybe if the next time we go he gets sick again I'll...
Read moreThe host was courteous but did not linger enough for conversation and only spoke addressing the more fair skinned person in our party. Hostservice here gets a 2.5 out of 5.
The bus person was kind and considerate. He addressed everyone in the party and is a definite credit to this place. This person has earned a 5 out of 5.
The person waiting on us was attentive and accommodating. They checked in on us just enough and at the end asked if it would be one check (versus the very awkward “together” to which I normally feel like anwering “mind your businesss”... LoL). Much like the disappointment, with host service, it was assumed that the white person was paying and they were handed the credit card slip when the check came back. I’m not sure if waitstaff realize this, but that is super insulting. Waitstaff here earns a 4 out of 5.
Now, let’s talk about the food! The chips and salsa leave much to be desired. I can forgive chips coming a bag, but the hottest salsa offered should not be Chalula. I suggest adding a nice Salsa Verde or Salsa con Chile de Arbol.
The Tilapia plate listed under lunch specials is to die for. It is beautifully plated. The lush colors presented feed the eye and the soul. The Chopotle Creme has a good flavor... Obviously, this dish is a star and they could charge much more than $10 for it.
We also sampled the enchiladas and tamales. The enchiladas were good, but nothing special to write home about. Also, Chile con carne is not part of Mexican cuisine. When you use it, it translates into SW Cusine... If people go to a Mexican restaurant, it’s for actua Mexican food. The tamales were a delightful celebration for the taste buds... I’d totally buy these by the dozen.
Overall, we give this a 4 out of 5. Needs some polish, but the food was great and the bus person offered some redemption...
Read moreMy husband and I recently had lunch here. We drive by this place often, but we always pass it up as the parking lot is completely full all the time so we assumed the restaurant was too busy. We decided to give it a try over the lunch hour in three hope that it wouldn't be as crowded. What we discovered is that they really just have a very tiny parking lot and the restaurant is not as busy as it may appear.
The staff here are wonderful. They greeted us and sat us right away at a spacious booth. The waitress was friendly and prompt with refills and the food arrived quickly. On the way out they gave us a friendly wave and a come back soon.
The food was average with only a few things standing out. The tortillas were amazing, hot and freshly made. They were just a bit too thick. They made me thirsty while chewing. My husband ordered the Mexican pizza and said he wouldn't get it again as it was too messy to figure out how to eat. It doesn't come sliced like a traditional pizza. Their tortilla chips are outstanding but the salsa was just okay. It had a nice spicy bite to it but it was heavy on the tomato base rather than being well rounded in flavor.
The bathrooms were clean and not busy. They're a bit hard to spot from the tables in the dining area though because they're tucked back behind the bar.
The atmosphere is pleasant and not crowded. I also noticed that it wasn't overwhelmingly loud. It felt more cozy and personal.
Overall, I would maybe return, but there are so many Mexican restaurants in this area to choose from that it will probably be overlooked because nothing about it really...
