Let me clarify: i didnt give this place a 1 star because judging on the menu in retrospect, its clear they are more viet than japanese. but the beef in the appetizer did not make for a good flavor with the shrimp. I ordered taro bubble tea, and i was very excited for it, for the price they charge I expected a decent size. Well its CLEAR they dont specialize in bubble tea or they are on a strict budget. There was so much ice in my bubble tea that i couldnt get any bubbles with the tea. After the Ramen I decided to empty the ice ibto the broth container and to my shock it literally filled the container 3/4ths to the top. I recieved less than a quarter of a cup of tea, and a very small amount of boba. Literally 4 sips of tea, with no boba in it. As for the ramen, the broth and noodles were OK, but the broth gave away a very powdered boolean flavor to it, rather than a well prepared ramen broth. Noodles are a decent pre-fab noodle, far from home made. the chicken was flavorless with the broth and before the broth, as were the eggs(again clearly not a ramen place, would 100% recommend they pull ramen off the menu). The high reviews are clearly from college kids or EO kids that dont have a means to go to better places. Mecha Noodle Bar is a prime example of what a functional Viet/Japanese spot looks like. I advise the owner to take a trip to the New Haven Mecha to see what a good ramen tastes like. Very dissapointed, for readers: if you can, traveling a bit for quality ramen will be...
Read moreIf there were ever a restaurant that did not deserve its woefully low ranking, it is this one. The food is bright and tasty, as we shall discover throughout this vibrant and peppy review. As to the customer service, we cannot rightly expect over-the-top-American phoniness at such a place. This is not Las Vegas, people. The food is ordered and it is delivered. One pays. That's it, no frills needed as none are promised. We opened with the summer rolls and they were perfect. PERFECT. And the pairing of additional proteins was spot-hitting. The peanut sauce was excellent. Next was the pad thai, which was flavorful and fresh, and buttressed by the most well prepared shrimp I have ever had in New England, which, admittedly, is not known for its shrimp offerings. I grew up in the Gulf South, where people love shrimp more than most of their family members, and so I hope you'll trust my opinion. The General Tso was BANG BANG spicy and crispy as it could be. Delightful! An unexpected highlight was the iced Vietnamese coffee. The order redeemed a failing libation of the same name I had secured at Disneyland earlier in the summer. See that? Daddy's is an indefatigable and...
Read moreFood has generally been good, I’ve been there couple of times but never returned after this one experience. There is an older female worker who I saw touch money, wipe her forehead sweat, eat her own food behind the counter right before plating up someone’s food and grabbing into a big bucket of bean sprouts to give to customers without ever washing her hands or putting on a glove!! this is absolutely disgusting and should not be allowed. Additionally, she was seen “washing” a cup from a customer who had just left and she basically poured the water around and rinsed it once, putting it back in the “clean pile” for her to use for the next customer. I couldn’t even continue eating after I observed this behavior in the...
