I almost hate to post this as I've had a decent lunch at this location once before and at the Bowen location. However my most recent experience with breakfast was not so great. It was late Tuesday morning and rainy. I ordered an 8oz. Ribeye, med-rare, and eggs scrambled with cheese, and a pancake. (I understand that the pandemic has made staffing restaurants a difficult thing right now and I have considered this as it started getting busy). Unfortunately, my steak was overcooked. I began eating my other items while waiting for my server to come back to check on us. When scrambled eggs with cheese are offered I feel the cheese should be mixed into the egg ( so it melts ) rather than sprinkled on top; which was the case here. My hash browns were a tad under done. The server came back to check on me when I was halfway through the meal. She took the steak back stating she would have another cooked. Sadly, it got so busy that when the replacement steak came I was long finished my meal and over wanting the steak; which was also over cooked. I asked her to just charge me for the eggs, hb, and hotcake but she removed the whole meal from my ticket; a nice gesture but not what I instructed ( I understand how hard it is for restaurants to make their margins and they already took a hit losing two steaks). Two other things caught my attention:
The hostess was seating people all over the restaurant and my server was tending to customers all over the floor rather than having a set station. This had an impact on service as they seemed to be short staffed.
2.PERFUME!!!! Servers should NEVER wear perfume!!!! When a customer can taste another customer's perfume is bad enough, but, should never have to contend with a server's perfume. It permeates the sinus, the palette, and the food!
Like I said, the pandemic has made staffing difficult, and this is a NEW location, and I've eaten at this and the Bowen location previously without issue. I anticipate that things will smooth out here over some time.
I AM critical because this IS my profession and if I don't say anything how will...
Read moreOk this place is not good. I'm a big Texas boy.And I know good Southern eating and this is not it my my burger tasted like something out of a gas station. You know when it's frozen. I bought food for my friend to and his chicken fried steak we both agree taste like Marie Calendar. The desert the Boston cream pie tasted like instant pudding. Even when my friends apple pie was heated up it tasted not good. My first red flag that it was microwaved food was that it showed up to my table way too fast. I also right after tasting the food it wasn't hard to miss. The only reason I gave two stars was that the roles were good but come on it's not hard to make rolls. And the other reason for another star was the lady was nice who served us. I won't be coming back. So bad this place is worthy of being on Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Maybe y'all should call Gordon Ramsay to help y'all's restaurant because it seems like it's going to not last if y'all don't do something. Also get something like real butter instead of Country Crock. Mansfield is a high-level business area for places like that you don't want to do stuff like that you will fail let me be that lesson for you instead of having to call Gordon Ramsay. I'm not a biased food critic cuz I'm not a food critic. But I do know my food I used to do culinary arts. And I know that area well. And y'all need to step up your game because this wouldn't be acceptable anywhere let alone in Mansfield where there's a lot of...
Read moreI can not say enough good things about our experience at Jay Jays!! We have tried coming before on a Sunday and they have been so crowded and I know why now!!!! Erica was our server, ee had a party of 15ish and she was so personable to everyone, great personality and such a sweetheart! She made sure to make a connection with every single person at our large table. She kept up with everyone and even found us pie even though it was a little after 8. We are so appreciative to everyone there!!! I had a mushroom Swiss burger with okra and it was perfect and fresh, stayed hot all the way to the last bite. My husband had the liver and onions with turnip greens and Cole slaw. He is very picky about his Cole slaw, but said this was the best and next time he will order double for his side because it was so good. My girls ordered the kids burger and fries/mashed potatoes. They devoured it and said it was great. We tried the chicken tenders from someone else's plate at our table and they were so crispy and crunchy. No one had any complaints at all. The price was so reasonable for as much food and good service as we had (2 adults, 2 kids, 4 drinks and 2 pieces of pie for under $50). I HIGHLY recommend the strawberry vanilla banana pie, sooooo good!!! If you can ask for a specific server, ask for Erica, you will not be...
