Let me first state that I am not one to write a negative review after one bad encounter at an establishment. Unfortunately, I have had several occurrences of poor to mediocre service at Slim Chickens on Broad St. in Mansfield, TX, but I continued to go and hoped to encounter better service at some point. Some of the young ladies and young men who work there are kind, but I have been in the presence of at least three individuals at the restaurant (on separate occasions) who appeared to be managers but who were less than professional and certainly not customer friendly.
My last experience has put me over the top, and I can't imagine ever going back to the Mansfield location.
Today, I walked in and the young lady who was working the register did not look up to acknowledge me, the customer, but continued to type on her cell phone. I honestly didn't think she would be the person taking my order. After putting the phone down, she told me to give her a minute, which I kindly obliged. She then approached and asked if "I" was ready, when I was waiting on her. I told her yes, and I kindly placed my order. As I waited for my food, I noticed the young lady wipe her runny nose with a napkin and proceed to bag my order without washing her hands. I assumed, perhaps, some hand sanitizer was nearby, at the least. When she wiped her nose a second time, I walked over and noticed there was no hand sanitizer and she had not washed her hands. I gently mentioned to her that she had wiped her nose a couple times without washing her hands, and before I could explain to her that that wasn't sanitary, she stormed away stating she had washed her hands TODAY! Today?? Today??!! Not that she had washed her hands after wiping her runny nose, but that she washed her hands at some point that day. I tried to explain to her that I wasn't being ugly or rude and I just wanted her to understand that what she was doing wasn't sanitary. She was rude and dismissive. A kind young lady came over from the drive-thru, listened to my concern, expressed her apologies and said she understood. The manager, however, stood by without comment or question. The initial young lady refused to complete bagging my food, by which I was actually relieved, but I again tried to help her know the problem (still kindly), to which she was again dismissive and rude. This is not the first time I've had poor service at this Slim Chickens location. I'm particularly disappointed with some of the management, but the managers' behavior helps to explain why poor service is acceptable, in general. I'm over it.
The only thing good to come out of this visit was the fact that I left knowing I was not rude or disrespectful, even after being spoken to in a rude and...
Read moreJust a note: 8 months later, and we notice the parking lot empty, during peak dinner hours. Maybe a reputable / quality business will be taking their spot soon. BBQ joint would be nice.
Friday 8/26, 8:30 pm. Ordered ahead, after sons baseball practice, for 9:15 pick up. Arrived 9:10-9:15. "Greeter" watching TV, nobody in line. My son(8) said, "excuse me, we have pick-up order for Nolan". It said nothing / looked at window / looked at register screen / said "We didn't get your ticket". Note: These are the only word spoken to us, by this person, the entire visit. I said, "It was an online order, let me go get my phone w/ the confirmation, otherwise I'm just out $25." No response. As we went to car, others came in. They were GREETED with "Welcome to slim chicken's, can I help you?" Came back in w/ phone, and someone I assumed was the manager looked over the "greeter's" shoulder and said " We have your order." I said, " for Nolan?" She nodded. I said, " Well, welcome to Slim Chickens". The others received their order, sat and ate. I watched as our order got mixed in with a drive through order. Then got split back out. Our drinks sat maybe 10 min, going flat as our order was finally put together. It sat while the "greeter" swept the dining area. I said, " I think our order is ready, can we please have our dinner?" It took the broom and dust pan to the back, moved our order to the TOGO counter looked at me, and pointed to the food. As we got up, It went to the back. I said, " Thanks for coming in, enjoy your dinner. Come back and see us." No response. While we walked out, more customers were walking in. I heard it say, "welcome to Slim Chickens, can I help you?" Then it hit me, I am being F'ed with. We got in car. drinks were flat. One tasted like dish water, poured it out. Got home food was delicious. Always is. My family does not appreciate being treated poorly. I get it. I am a white, 40+, straight, father, citizen. I raise my son to treat everyone, the way you would like to be treated. I never thought I would have to explain to an 8-year-old, reverse discrimination, over dinner. I found the "greeter's" manner very insulting, and inappropriate. We sat and waited a good 1/2 hour. They would have been perfectly fine to have us leave without our order. But my son was hungry, and Wanted Slim Chickens. After explaining to my son "Why did they act that way, dad?", we agreed. We will NEVER return to this location, and will discourage others from doing so, as well. Good luck with the LGBTQ food sales. With service like we experienced Friday, you are well on the way to making them your ONLY...
Read moreThis location is horrible it needs to be shut down and reopened with an entire new staff. I went yesterday for lunch with my friends and their food came out and I sat there waiting and waiting for my food and I see my food sitting on the counter while the cashier is socializing and taking other orders and my food is just sitting up there waiting. When she finally decides to bring me my food I immediately tell her I want a fresh plate because I know the food is not hot she informed me that the plate was hot ,I said the plate is going to be warm because it's sitting on a warm counter underneath the heat lamp but the food is not the same temperature. She took my food back to the kitchen and I can see her through the window speaking with the manager and they're both looking at me and she's making all kind of funny faces and smirks and he's smirking looking at me as if it's a problem that they have to remake my order. When they did bring me out my order for the second time they forgot to put the toast on my plate so I had to go to the counter and get the toast. No one in there wears hair nets ,no one in there seems like they want to be at work and this location typically has the lobby closed because they are too lazy to deal with customers over the counter so they rather have you use their drive-thru where they know they're going to mess up on your order and most people who go there for lunch are on a lunch break with a limited amount of time so no one's going to want to go back and get their proper order. Do not waste your money at this location it sucks. I recommend canes...
