This is my absolute favorite place to eat. From drinks and apps at the bar to a nice long Italian dinner by the fire, nothing comes close. You can taste Italy here, it's authentic cuisine mixed with one-of-a-kind dishes you couldn't replicate in a lifetime. If you want to impress your date, client, or take your Italian parents/ grandparents to have a true taste of Italy, there's no better place.
The bartenders are not only observant, attentive, and warm, but make excellent drinks, and be sure to try some of their specials! They have an excellent mix-ologist back there, and this is coming from a very picky licensed bar-tender!. They hand make a lot of this stuff in-house, from their vodka infusions to fresh squeezed apple-juice (which is out-of-this-world BTW). Keep an eye out for their specials and their seasonal menu items, because when they're gone, you miss them more than a warm sunny summer's day in a typical snow-ridden New England winter.
I don't know how long I can make this, but I genuinely can't say enough good about this place. I'm an incredibly picky eater, and never ate tomatoes before I came here, but their Bruschetta turned me right around after the first bite. Having been to Italy a few times, once for several months, the food is prepared with fresh picked (some from right outside the door) produce and that is apparent, be it tomatoes, basil, or swordfish caught right off the coast. They are also quite good at catering to any pickyness you may have, and will go to great lengths to make sure you get what you want.
All-in-all, I walk briskly to here with an eager grin, and meander my way out not wanting to leave their bolognese (best I've ever had, btw), their cappuccino, and especially their chocolate lava-cake.
This is the Spinal Tap of Italian cuisine, they take it all the way up to 11.
Now, I see a LOT of complaints here about wait times and such, but that's what happens when you have an excellent restaurant with a large customer base. If you get there during peak times, you're going to have to wait a little, but it is...

My wife and I make our way up the narrow walkway adjacent to the empty patio seating. Five waitresses standing there; zero greeting. A waiter tells us we can't sit inside as 'there's a Seinfeld style show tonight that's rather raunchy'. He proceeds to take us to the patio which has two couple seated in a sea of empty tables. We ask to sit up closer to the street and are told, 'no we save the four tops' (uh no one is here and there's no line or people even arriving. Guess he expected a rush). We sit down and the water server comes over, no hello, good evening (mind you the prices are 20 and up I would think they d be a little more hospitable and welcoming). Our waitress comes over and takes our drink order. Doesn't ask of we d like an app, bread, anything. She disappears. About 10-15 min lapses and no one comes over with drinks ,to take an order, greet us (mind you two couple in the entire place and about 4-5 servers).....disgusted with the service, as we get up to leave and walk out one of the waiters is squatting in a little alley area sucking on his vape (classy) and another woman is standing watching the police ticket cars, the others are meandering about. Our waitress no where to be foind. We left and went La Familia in Easton which was fabulous for half the money and the service was great. In this market, those prices, time to step up your game and train your staff. The Covid...
Read moreThis place is amazing! It's small and out of the way. You could almost walk by it and not know it's there. It is a true hidden gem.
The food is delicious. I was able to have a salad, a blossom stuffed with cheese and other awesome flavors. and my entree, the stuffed veal chop, was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time. Then desert, a coffee cake that is made by a local vendor by hand, then paired with candied apples and gelato... do I need to say more? It's so good!
The service is as good as the food. our server knew the taste of everything on the menu we asked about and even recommended what went well with the things you like. The entire staff was very nice and were always there to help and answer any questions we had.
Price, that's got to be the catch right? Well, it can be. If you go with expensive items and wine. But all the items are reasonable priced and have the option to do half portions.
If you need any more reason to visit Trattoria Della Nonna, then you just don't like good food and...
