Steadily going downhill... I went in today at 3pm. I was promptly greeted by a very courteous young lady at the register, but this is about where the good review ends.
I order a 1/2-n-1/2 Po-Boy (shrimp and crawfish), added a bowl of seafood gumbo, and a side Caesar salad with a bottled beer.
I sat down and within 5 minutes was presented with my salad and gumbo. The salad was nice and fresh, but was also very lack luster. Like they just opened a bag of pre-chopped lettuce and dumped it in the bowl with some store bought croutons and served it with generic salad dressing. Paying $5 for a small bowl of lettuce... I expected a lot more effort.
The gumbo was next... The soup was nice n hot (not so hot I couldn't eat it, but just right). However, the roux was burnt, there was zero okra, onion, celery, tomato, or bell pepper in it, and the stock was flavorless (like they made it with water instead of stock). I bit into a few bits of crab, all of which were real crab, but not of which were cleaned properly. I ended up hurting a tooth on a crab shell, and the rest was full of cartilage and joints. There were 2 shrimp and 3 crawfish tails in my gumbo, all of which were ice-cold and rubbery. NASTY!!! The stock itself had only one flavor... burnt roux. NASTY!!!
My Po-Boy and Fries came out next. The presentation was nice for food served in a basket. I like the way they lay out the veggies and the sandwich is open face. But the shrimp and the crawfish tails were just kind of hap-hazzardly tossd in, and were all over the basket instead of being arranged like the veggies. The 4 shrimp and 6 crawfish tails I got (this is a $12 sandwich ?????) were cold and rubbery. The batter was soggy like this food had been siting out on a counter for an hour or so. The real kicker was that, in order to make it look like more food, they dumped a large, fist-sized, clump of what boiled down to being just greasy, deep-fried bit from the bottom of the fryer vat right on top of my sandwich. Then there is hat happens to the bread when you add all that lettuce and roumelade sauce to it without toasting it first. It was like eating a slimy old sandwich from 3 days ago. I ended up having to scoop out that part of the bread, as well as the lettuce, and just toss it. The fries were equally as cold as the rest of the food so I didnt' even bother with them.
This little venture cost me about $30. The only part that wasn't totally FUKT UP was the cold beer. Although, honestly, it wasn't even all that cold. If you're going to charge $5 for a beer, try keeping the cooler under 40 degrees. Otherwise, you might as well just keep them on the counter.
I don't know what happened to this place over the last 2 years, but I will be making the extra drive to eat over at another spot in Friendswood from now on. Let me clarify that statement: I'll drive an extra 35 minutes instead of stopping here for something as simple as a soup and sandwich...

I came here a year ago when they first opened and told myself I was never going back. We ended coming back today but not by my choice! It was my brothers birthday and Manvel Seafood was too busy and we would have to wait over an hour to sit 20 people. I couldn’t remember why I wouldn’t come back but remembered why once I got in the building.
The line was all the way to back and curved towards the bar. There was only 1 cashier taking orders. It took almost an hour just to order our food. (Should have just waited at Manvel Seafood) Get to the register and they were out of French fries. I told the lady that I wanted corn on the cob instead for my daughter. When I get my food there’s no corn. Come to find out the cashier told my sisters that ordered before me that they were out of corn as well, but yet didn’t inform me when I ordered. Then I looked at my receipt and she decided to put a bag of chips on my order without consulting me and informing me they were out. Then the chicken stripes aren’t even made out of chicken breast. It was dark meat. I’ve never seen chicken stripes made out of dark meat. SMDH. I ended up ordering a burger since I didn’t care for the crawfish a year ago. Since they were out of fries I had no choice but to get onion rings. Of course I was charged $2 more. Which I completely disagreed with the cashier. Why should I be charged more if they were out of French fries??? Onion rings weren’t even my first choice and it’s not like they had much to choose from that goes with a burger. I get my burger and the bacon is baked and soft. Not even crispy and Smelled horrible. My burger was soggy and tasted like cardboard. I refused to eat it. The red beans and rice had very little rice and had no flavor. But yet was rate the best ordered item. 🤔 My husband and brothers ordered crawfish and they all complained about it. My husband usually eats 5 lbs or more but only ate 2 lbs because they sucked. Boudin was the only good thing that we ordered. The cashier kept saying this was a family owed business being an excuse to be out of items in the menu. I’ve never seen a family owed business with horrible service and didn’t care about their customers. Usually that’s chained restaurants. The owner was in the back and never acknowledged her customers or even try to apologize for being out of items on the menu. Never again ! This place is horrible, I don’t care who’s birthday. I can’t understand how this place has so many...
Read moreI mean what can I say. The food must be good because I just looked at my receipts and I went and picked up food for my family for 5 of the past 8 days. We went here based off a recommendation from my oldest daughter and she did a good job with this one. Before I get into details, I just want to say that we enjoyed every food item that we ordered. This says a lot because we tried something different each time that we went and it was good each time. The taste of the food is what kept bringing us back. Here's a breakdown of what we ordered during our 5 visits: cheeseburger (toppings come on the side and come with fries or chips), buffalo chicken tenders (comes with fries and choice of sauce), hushpuppies (total of 10 and they have a little sweetness to them), duo (2 boiled potatoes and 1/2 corn on the cob), trio (same as the duo with an added sausage link), frisky chicken dinner (grilled chicken w/2 sides), boudin balls (comes as 3 or 6), they don't have sandwiches-they have 'sammiches', of which we had a chopped beef sammich (comes with fries or chips), seafood stuffed jalapenos, fried catfish platter (comes in regular or large with fries, 3 hush puppies, and cole slaw), Hackberry special platter with the same sides as the catfish platter (choice of either 2 or 3 of the following: fried shrimp, fried catfish, fried crab fingers, oysters, crawfish tails, or gator), red beans & rice with sausage (comes with a slice of toast), and onion rings. I must reiterate that everything was delicious and well seasoned. The staff is also very pleasant. The icing on the cake is that the prices are very reasonable. There are lunch specials during the week between 11-3. It is definitely worth stopping by and trying them out. There is inside and outside dining available. There is a drive-up window to pickup to-go orders or place an order as well (if you're placing an order, this is not a drive-thru with a menu board. You may need to already know what you're ordering or ask at the window). If anyone is looking for a job, I also noticed that they are hiring. My family and I would like to say thank you to the staff for the great food...
