Permanently close — Restaurant in Maplewood

This was by far the worse experience I have had in a long time. The service was not good at all. There were 4 of us and not one dish was ever removed from our table during or after the meal. The restaurant was not busy at all and our waitress appeared to be stoned or something, like moving in slow motion. She did come by often, but just seemed out of sorts and as mentioned, never removed dirty dishes. The food was mediocre at best and pricier than it's counterparts in the area. The appetizer was disgusting. Listed as "warm bread and cheese" it was actually a small loaf of bread with some fake yellow cheese melted between it, like an ungrilled cheese sandwich. At $6, it was a ripoff. The house salad and the ceasar salad were the same with the exception of a few thinly sliced pieces of tomato on the house salad. Both made with iceberg, both with cheap tiny store bought croutons. My sister ordered a side of steamed broccoli which came out at room temperature. When her bill came she was charged for a side of seasoning @ $2.50. When she questioned the waitress it was explained that the seasoning was for the broccoli. My sister was never asked if she wanted seasoning and certainly never told it would be an additional cost. I had suggested she send it back but she does not do that. The four of us were very disappointed in the experience and will definitely not be going back as there are so many...

For those of you that know me, know that we always start simple at brand new restaurants. The thinking being that if you can't get these simple things right, then you'll probably struggle with the more challenging menu selections.

That being said, we decided to try the newly established Blue Crab Juicy Seafood bar. I had noticed a Facebook ad that they had recently opened, and as they are really close to our offices, the wife and I decided to have a lunch date here this afternoon.

We were pleasantly surprised...

The place was bright, clean and well staffed with attentive and friendly service.

We opted for the lunch special baskets. My wife chose the fried oysters with cajun fries, and I opted for the fried shrimp basket w/onion rings.

Both items came out quick, fast, in a hurry! My basket was crispy and delicious made with "real" onion rings and came with cocktail sauce. The oyster basket was the same with a large portion of fries that were seasoned CORRECTLY! The oysters were served with a nicely flavored tartar sauce.

[ PLUS, there was a big bottle of McIlhenny's on the table - so they get bonus points, for this is how I like my oysters. ]

The prices were reasonable, and very competitive with similar restaurants in this category. Needless to say, we were very pleased with our initial experience here and will definitely be back (and very likely often).

Well...

I take my son to eat crabs legs every year on his birthday and I just so happened to Google this place and I am so glad I did. My family and I walked in and we were the only ones in the restaurant at first until this other family walked in. This restaurant is very beautiful on the inside and very spacious, the staff are kind and friendly and went out of there way to cater to my son on his 12th birthday, they definitely made him feel very special by bringing all my children cheesecake at the end to help us celebrate his birthday. The food arrived to our table hot and fresh and I watched my son eat his crab legs with satisfaction. He was definitely full and happy when we were done with our meal. The other family that was there was celebrating something as well and I watched them bring that family out a complimentary appetizer before they even order there food. They are definitely all about their customers. They gave my children some green candy like mints as we were getting ready to leave, I wish I could have tried one but my kids devoured them. I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could because they definitely deserve it. I wished I ate crab legs so that I could come here more, but with different options for people who are non crab eaters you won't have a problem there. Give them a try, you will not be...
