We were in marble falls for a mountain bike race and after the race decided to Google to find the best margaritas in town. That is how we found this restaurant. We were cold and tired and walked two miles from the hotel to stretch our legs.
We ordered top shelf margaritas and the server asked which tequila. We asked what they had and she said ”Patron”. We chose the patron. What we got tasted like bottled margarita mix with a shot of patron, but mostly margarita mix.
Then we asked about the guacamole, if it was chunky, and she said it was home made. She asked if we wanted a side or a bowl. When she said side, she made a quarter sized hole with her hand, so we said a bowl. What we got tasted like watered down, canned guac and had a few diced tomatoes on it. The salsa that came with the chips was pretty good though.
For entrees we ordered spinach and mushroom enchiladas and the chicken fajita super nachos. The enchiladas were missing the mushrooms and the spinach was not fresh. They were very tiny, but the corn tortillas and the green chili cream sauce were pretty good. We were able to scrape off the mozzarella cheese without a problem. Is mozzarella Mexican or Italian? We had asked for fajita style vegetables to come with the enchiladas instead of refried beans. The server asked if we meant like a salad, so we said sure, a salad is fine. However the rice that came with the enchiladas was white rice with tiny carrots, pass and green beans like we were served in elementary school. The salad was a tiny bit of lettuce and diced tomatoes that would come with a taco. There wasn't any dressing, it was really more of a garnish.
The chicken fajita super nachos was just chicken and cheddar cheese on top of a dozen nacho chips. There wasn’t anything fajita about them, no fajita veggies. The server said fajita was the style of the chicken. Maybe the chicken ate the veggies? I don't know. The plate also had some lettuce, a lot more that what was in the salad, sour cream and more of the canned guacamole. The chicken that ate the veggies was actually pretty good though. Is cheddar Mexican?
The restaurant looked like your average American style Mexican restaurant, but when we got the bill, it seemed they felt it was a much nicer establishment. Top shelf margaritas aren't cheap, but the quality sure was.
We were going to give this to stars because the waitress was really nice and the chips and salsa were good, but after rereading this, we are giving it one star. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food with a good margarita, this is...
Read moreHorrible! Went to celebrate my fiance's birthday with our family. When the waitress brought out our food it was edible. But I'm not writing about the food. My issue was that after the food was served a silverfish came out from my plate. I got the attention of another waitress who stood there and watched as I killed it and dropped it on the floor. The waitress immediately picked it up with her fingers and went straight the the kitchen without speaking 2 words to me. The owner I'm assuming that's who he was told me that they had left the door open and maybe that's how the silverfish got in the restaurant. Regardless of how it arrived onto my plate and table it's still unsanitary. The same waitress who watched me chase this silverfish off my table had the odasity to say that what it had been a feather! Ok don't call me a lair as you watched this silverfish run around my table. At that point my entire family got up from the table and left. Previously before the waitress made up a story the owner did however offer us a discount and offered us a free drink... all which we declined. We left when the waitress called me a liar in front of my children whom saw...
Read moreThis is not Mexican food, y'all. They are now a steak, burger and chicken wings place with a full bar. I would call that "bar food" and it's not bad, but it's not the Texmex we were trying to get. I had the burger, and it's a pretty big patty over toasted bread with a comically small piece of cheese. Lettuce, onion, pickles, and tomatoes were on the side and condiments are in large, chilled squeeze bottles. The burger came with thin, almost shoe string french fries. The baked potato is interesting. It's spread open across the plate and covered with toppings before reheated. The final product is kind of like a twice baked potato. They have draft beer and a full bar, including wine and spirits. The draft beer was frosty cold. They have ~20 "games of chance," if you're interested in that kind of stuff. Karaoke on Saturday nights... All inclusive, this reads more bar and less restaurant. And it's definitely not Mexican food! Once the Google profile is updated, we can rate them on their then known expectations. But they're a two star "Mexican Food"...
