If you're looking for a low-carb breakfast or lunch spot that doesn’t make you choose between flavor, freshness, or affordability—Tea Thyme Cafe nails all three. I ordered the build-your-own omelet and went full veggie mode: red and yellow peppers, green onions, red onions, spinach, more I can’t remember and olives on top, plus bacon and cheddar all served with sliced avocado, and salsa—for only $11.49. That’s a serious win for a low-carb, high-flavor meal that doesn’t feel like a compromise! My friend got the turkey tacos (kind of looks turkey salad-ish), which came on a bed of spinach and were loaded with green onions, cranberries, mandarin oranges, and walnuts. It looked fresh and creative—definitely not your average taco situation—for $12.99. Our server, Judy, had a straight-faced charm that grew on us quickly. She was attentive, patient and had the kind of wit that sneaks up on you in the best way keeping the vibe fun! I asked an embarrassing number of questions about the vegetable options, and she handled it like a pro. Even the food runner checked in to make sure my veggie-packed omelet masterpiece came out just right. It was really nice. Only downside? Parking. Lunchtime on a Wednesday = packed. But once you’re inside, it’s smooth sailing with plenty of seating, quick service, and food that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting under a heat lamp since sunrise. Will absolutely be back.

This place is a huge disappointment. Extremely dirty and nasty restrooms. They serve hot coffee in a plastic mugs? Why? I ordered omelette with mushrooms and avocado. Omelette was dry. And they put on the side three thin avocado pieces. It looked like a joke. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Update: change my rating to 1 due to owner respond. The whole point of this review is to show that you have room for improvement. You’re welcome that I tipped 30%. You’re welcome that I choose your place over others. In addition to my omelette I didn’t have any pork, because I don’t eat meat. All I asked was mushrooms and avocado. If you don’t know what you’re talking about - don’t. Also, chemicals that in plastic, like bisphenol A (BPA) could get into our food or drink and then cause cancer. But I’m really sorry because you must having a bad years.

On way back to DFW from weekend in Fredricksburg, we were craving lighter fare and found Tea Thyme. So glad we stopped. Wife has several food sensitivites and was thrilled to learn kitchen is gluten free. Friendly, prompt service with delicous, fresh prepared food. Atmosphere is unique. Lighting was difficult and only one bathroom, but you go here for the food. Highly recommend tuna melt, however the vegan patty melt was superior. Juicy, rich, and layered with caramelized onions, truly impossible to tell its vegan. Wife declared it "The Bomb!" Portions large enough to share, so save room for house made pie. Key lime was fantastic. Excellent offering of coffee, hot and ice teas.

So this is a fairly mixed review that's why it got two stars. We came in on Tuesday with a party of five at 12:05 pm. The restaurant was not very busy but many of the tables were not cleaned yet we were not greeted after about 4 minutes of wondering if we should seat ourselves we wandered around until we found somebody coming out of the kitchen. We asked if we should seat ourselves and she said no and in one minute seated Us in the back area. This may be why our service was so terrible.

With no exaggeration our food was delivered at 1:25 pm we did not receive any updates or apologies. We did not receive silverware, napkins or anything else until our food had been on the table for 2 minutes after waiting that whole time. This definitely added to the frustration to have food finally in front of us with nothing to eat it with. We were never asked if we wanted refills on the drinks and not treated like they wanted our business.

The food however was delicious and made as ordered if it was only the food they would have got a 5 rating. So in conclusion if you've got all day and you like good food this place might be for you in my opinion they need more help in the kitchen and staff that cares about customers.

UPDATE: I have decided to change my Rating to 1 Star based on the response from the Owner. 1) the restaurant was not busy there were several open tables that had not been cleaned yet. 2) We were not greeted at entry 3) There were Five of us and only my Mom brought her water bottle in making 3 Soda's and 1 Coffee never checked on. 4) The fact that she stated she was proud of her staff for giving such terrible service is just foolish and will cost her business.

Avoid this place and go to The Blue Bonnet instead. They were great and gave a 5 star...

Worst experience ever. Went in for breakfast and ended up with the buffet. The food was cold and tasted awful. The owner came to our table to address our unhappiness and ended up degrading me and my daughter, the entire family! We are a military family. I have never been treated that way in a restaurant. The server then came in attacking our family as well, yelling we are "Austin people ". Unbelievable! Will never be back and would definitely not recommend this place to anyone! Terrible unprofessional reaction!

Unfortunately after reading the owner's response, it was verified of what an unprofessional business owner truly is. We sat in the waitress's section for 30 minutes before voicing our issues due to she never came back to check on us. I had to get up and go to her. Not to mention we never were even offered a drink refill! The personal attack toward the owner came only after how she degraded us as if we were lying about the food being cold, degrading my young daughter by asking if her salad was cold too. I never asked for my military son to eat free, I actually made the statement that coming from the Military on leave, he would eat anything. And yes the waitress did yell at us stating you people are "Austin people ", as if that was supposed to be an insult. Sorry Miss Janet, but you and your waitress are both in need of professional training. I was a manager of a restaurant for many years, and customer satisfaction should always be first. You had a chip on your shoulder from the moment you approached me, and instead of trying to make things right, you chose the alternative of making things horrible...

To start off, I have celiac disease, so 100% gluten free restaurants are few and far between. It incredibly disappoints me when a restaurant is this bad and I can’t go again. When we arrived at the restaurant it was 11, and it was not busy. A waiter came by to drop off silverware and menus, I informed him that we needed one more, and it was never brought. Our drinks took awhile before he comes to say that he has to restart (no clue what that means) yet he was serving others before us. Finally after about 45 minutes of waiting to order, I asked for another server and she was kind, but still very slow. We did not get our food for another 30 minutes. 2 tables also sat down next to us, and left as they were not greeted by a waiter within awhile of sitting down. By the time we left, it was 1:00 and we had been there for 2 hours. As we waited for our food, I thought to look up reviews, and saw all of the horrible, and unprofessional comments left by the owner on the low star reviews. Just by those comments left by the owner, I’m not coming back. How does a business owner treat its customers with such rudeness, when they are just leaving an honest review. I know that this review will also get a nasty comment from the owner, but if anything, I hope it just shows other potential customers how horrible of a business it is, to be blaming their customers and being rude to them over their honest reviews.

Update: Owner just proved me correct with the sassy response. And no, my mother went to check out the salad bar and that was it. It is nice to know that you and your company do not know proper...
