★★★★★ — BEST EGG DROP SOUP IN TOWN
Fen Yang House has become the dependable dinner hero in our home—and judging by how often I see its white take-out bags on Atlantic Ave., I’m not alone.
What keeps us coming back
Dual-menu delight. Where else in Marblehead can you order picture-perfect salmon maki and a sizzling plate of General Gau’s chicken from the same kitchen? The Chinese standards taste exactly like you hope they will (crispy, not greasy, with sauce that’s tangy-sweet, not syrupy), while the sushi rice is shockingly fluffy for a suburban spot. Grubhub Uber Eats
Lightning-fast service. Whether we grab take-out after work or schedule delivery through Uber Eats or Grubhub, the food is hot, neatly packed, and at the door in 30 minutes or less—even on Friday nights. Grubhub Uber Eats
Can’t-miss crowd-pleasers.
Peking ravioli—tender dumplings with that addictively garlicky dipping sauce.
Crab Rangoon—golden, super-crispy pillows (a must-order for every game night).
Sesame chicken—perfect crunch-to-sauce ratio and real orange zest in the glaze.
House fried rice—loaded with big shrimp and BBQ pork, never oily. Postmates Uber Eats
Recent facelift, same neighborhood soul. The dining room makeover last year brightened the space with warm wood and modern lighting, yet still feels casual enough for a quick family lunch. Marblehead Current
Fair prices & generous portions. One entrée easily feeds two (with leftovers for tomorrow’s lunch), so a full feast rarely tops what other places charge for just sushi.
Bottom line: From noon luncheon specials to late-night lo mein cravings, Fen Yang House delivers consistent flavor, friendly service, and unbeatable variety. If you’re in Marblehead and haven’t ordered yet, treat yourself—you’ll understand why this place is a local staple after the...
Read moreThe Chinese food here is quite good, and the prices are very reasonable. The sushi just isn't good, though. The last time I was here, the fish wasn't very fresh and a salmon sashimi even had a bone left in it. I would stick to the Chinese food.
There also isn't a real wine list. The wines you do get are poured from one presumably larger bottle into a 750ml bottle for some reason... they couldn't afford a few $10 carafes? The wines are also either really bad or have been open for too long. But they have an okay selection of bottled beers so I'd stick with those.
If I could give a rating between 3 and 4 stars I would, but I can't. Don't get me wrong... if you're looking for Chinese food (either eat-in or take-out), this place is definitely good. Just skip the sushi, and...
Read moreSo we went to another place in Swampscott on the water and to say the least, it just wasn't what we had hoped for. A $13 Mai Tai at this other location and they seemed to not care less that we were there. Slow service and our appetizer came before our drink.
Sit down at the Fen Yang bar and were not only greeted pleasantly but introduced to Gina. She makes the finest Mai Tai and is so attentive, prompt and considerate you want to keep ordering. And at around $8.50 each, your can't have just one. Great sushi, great drinks and appetizers. The service is 5 stars, the food great and we can't wait to go back. Thanks Gina for...
