Neck Run Cafe — Restaurant in Marblehead

What happened to this place??? It seems under new ownership in recent years- prices skyrocketing, serving sizes dramatically less- bought 3 - 2 scoop ice creams for $28+ and the 2 scoops was the smallest scoops I have ever seen. But- I have noticed there are never any lines anymore- you can get any pick of a table. Back in the day- old owners had coolers of free water, reasonable prices and the lines were endless. Always so busy! There used to be live music- not any more. It used to be a fun dinner on the beach you could take your family to. Now I bring my food from local delis and eat on the beach. After today and buying ice cream- I’ll go to Treadwells In Peabody instead. Soooo disappointing. Very convenient location but needs to be better managed; I ordered icecream and a portion of fries - the icecream came out within 5min but I then waited 15min for the fries by which time the icecream was just a puddle. They need to think about providing the order all at the same time, not in pieces. Also, I think that I shouldn't have to wait for them to close out the more complex orders ahead of mine just to get a portion of fries. Additionally, waiting time has been, on average this last week, typically greater than 20min - watching the staff in the kitchen, there is no management, everyone is just doing their part without any central organisation...

The staff at the counter are great. Friendly & competent. Not sure what’s going on with the cook(s). The food was terrible. Everything we ordered was undercooked & we needed to take our food home to cook it properly. Prices are high but would be worth it if the food was good. The location is beautiful, on the beach.
