Maybe I am biased because I work at an ice cream place in my home state up North, however this evening I was appalled by the profound lack of cleanliness in Sweet Annie’s this evening. Although I understand and empathize with how busy it was, there were so many things that were alarming as a customer. For starters, the counters were gross and had toppings and ice cream all over them. I understand being understaffed, however there was someone walking around stocking napkins, and couldn’t move any slower if he tried. He could have been wiping the filthy counters. Additionally the milk shake machine looked like it hadn’t been wiped down in hours, which is quite disgusting… even worse, I was standing in line for over half an hour and the same milk container was sitting on the counter THE ENTIRE TIME! We are in Florida (80°) with the door open! Where is the Board of Health???? Next, My scooper had bracelets on that were dangling in all of the ice creams and her forearms were gross too. Furthermore, we paid 75 cents for sprinkles for each of our ice creams, however a quarter of the ice cream had sprinkles on it…. If that. Then , when checking us out, she told my party that before we can receive our printed receipt we can “choose how much we would like to tip her”….. all in all, this experience was a let down. It’s disappointing that the service and venue was so poor because the ice cream was delicious. I think the scoopers should be more aware of the presentation of their ice cream, and managers aware of the cleanliness of the store. I hope that whoever is reading this can take my criticism as constructive, because I have been to Sweet Annie’s for many years now, but the service is seeming to...
Read moreYES, I am referring to the location at Marco Island.
Skipped over in line twice. Staff was disorganized. The line took forever to move, because we were told we can’t be checked out until the person who “took care of you” gets you (And then told to stand aside so the people that came in after us can check out before us - there were two of us that got single scoops in cups and four of them so don’t need to hear that we had a larger group or had difficult orders). Makes no sense. I’m a local who likes his ice cream and I’d much rather make the further drive and give my business to Sweet Melissa’s in Bonita Springs or Royal Scoop (Both places are fantastic) Ice cream is just as comparable, if not better (although unfortunately I’ll never give Sweet Annie’s another shot to really get a fair comparison) and much better service. Felt unwelcomed here. Unfortunate because I was hopeful as the place has potential. Just one horrible customer service experience is all it takes when there are other great options- I don’t need to hear excuses because I’ve been going to the other ice cream shops in SW Florida the last handful of years since becoming a resident and never had a poor experience with the actual staff...
Read moreThis was another popular spot for ice cream in Marco Island. Once we got there, holy cow milk! It was packed! The line was going out the door! Granted, the inside was quite small, but still… A definite sign of their popularity. Young female staffs (teenagers?) working as hard as they could to keep up with the long line and the demand. They had a massive flavor menu written on the chalkboard, which was great. You could look at what seemed like unlimited amount of flavors while waiting in the line.
I went with Dreamsicle. It had some toasted coconut in it, making it a bit more “meaty” and flavorful. I ordered one scoop of Dreamsicle in a cup. The one scoop was overflowing from the cup… Awesome! The ice cream was thick, creamy and super tasty! Soooo good!!!
My hubby went with Sunken Treasure, under “Caramel Lovers.” This one was really nice, I thought it might be overwhelmingly caramel-y, but vanilla ice cream balanced it out nicely.
This shop had another room attached, with a few tables and chairs. They also sell all sorts of candies and souvenirs. A really fun place to get...
