Like it's nearby neighbor Toasted Cafe I must have passed this place hundreds of times without paying attention. Thankfully I have great Yelp friends who like to share their good finds. Hence I found myself and a weekday afternoon meeting up with some friends to try some of the offerings of the New Jersey Deli 2.
We ended up sharing a mixture of their pastries, sandwiches, and empanadas. I noticed that a lot of their pastries have caramel in them. My favorite was a cake covered in meringue that was yellow sponge on the inside with caramel, cream and peaches. We also had a caramel, cake, and some of the cookies. The beef empanadas were so good I had to get some to go. Empanada flavors come in beef, chicken, ham and cheese, spinach, cheese, cheese and onion, and fish. .Once you make your selection they fry it up for you. The coffee was amazing. It was a lot better than what you get in a coffee shop chain. A lot of care was given to fresh brewing it and topping it with a thick layer of foamy milk. My fancy coffee and a chocolate croissant was only $2.95. Later on I paid for four empandas and the meringue cake and it was only $12.00.

Read moreThe coffee is fantastic, and very much what people expect in South Florida.
The real winner though is the Chivito. I enjoy the more basic number 3 as well as the chivito especial (number 4)
It’s similar to the traditional Cuban sandwich but built for breakfast. Steak, egg, tomato, all cooked perfectly and put on Cuban bread. It’s a great breakfast, and at 5.99 it’s priced as well as any fast food breakfast menu item.
The staff is friendly, and cheerful, and the griddle is right out in the front so you can see what’s being cooked.
It’s an easy place to recommend and I’m grateful it was...
