Food: A-, Service: C+, Not a good value for the money.
We ate at the Maricopa location of Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers around 7:30 p.m. on a Wednesday evening. We were promptly seated and we had ample time to look at the menu. Yes, ample time to look at the menu. We continued to wait and finally, our server came to ask us what we would like to drink. She then said that if we wanted any appetizers, we could order them now. Like I said, we had ample time to decide what we wanted to eat, so I asked her if we could place our food orders now. She said “yes” and took our order. The restaurant had a fair number of patrons, but mostly people who were finishing their meals and leaving. Our food was ready in 15 – 20 minutes, which felt like a long time, but is not too unreasonable. Finally, someone who was not our server brought our food to us. We ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu and Monterey Chicken sandwiches. The serving sizes were generous and the food was hot, fresh and tasty. The total for two meals was $50.98. This was for two meals with no appetizers, no desserts and no alcohol. Just two chicken sandwiches, each with a side of fries, and two cokes. My wife took a bite of her Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich, and ended up with her hands covered in grease. That’s when we realized that we had no napkins or silverware. I walked up to a server station and that’s when I saw that they have knives, forks and spoons wrapped in a napkin, ready to be placed on the tables. Somehow, we never received any silverware or napkins. I asked the person at the server station if we could please have some napkins, and she handed me about 8 or so napkins which was plenty for us. A short time later, someone who was not our server brought us more napkins, which we did not need. Our server checked on us once while we were eating, but we already had plenty of napkins, did not need silverware beyond the steak knives that came with our sandwiches, and we weren’t far enough into our meals to be ready for drink refills. The next time our server checked on us was about 10 minutes after we finished eating. This was the first time she offered to refill our beverages, which we declined because we had been ready to leave for several minutes. She asked us if we were ready for our check, and clearly we were. She was pretty quick handing us the check and processing our payment.
The atmosphere was that of a sports bar, with a lot of TVs playing mostly NBA games. We saw people with children there, so it’s not too sporty or too much of a bar atmosphere to be unfriendly to families. There is seating in front of the restaurant as well as a patio on the north side of the building. Overall, the food tasted good, but was surprisingly greasy for grilled chicken sandwiches. The name on the building is Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers, so I guess I shouldn’t expect excellence stepping outside of the burger menu. I try to not be overly critical of servers, and I only observed our server helping one other table. I’m not sure why she missed the mark as much as she did with our table because she didn’t seem to be spread too thin with...

The Two Crazy Vegans no longer approve of CBCB. Please read on...
The two crazy vegans approve of CB&CB! For us the only real menu item is the Beyond Burger but that is OK. The burger is great, the chips it comes with are top notch, and yes I did say the chips were first. I love chips and these are amazing! In Maricopa you cannot go wrong here. Food is fast. Servers are friendly. Then there is beer. Lots of it! Something for everyone, even Athletic non alcoholic. Everything is clean, and its a great place to hangout!
UPDATE: 3/22/2025 Went this afternoon. Just wanted to sit at the outdoor bar and have a cheeburger. Only problem is two of the three garage doors were closed. Open one was full of diners. Beautiful day, middle 80's, doors should be open. Told one of the three hostesses (really 3???) That we were gonna sit at the bar. No seats. So we sat at a table. About 5 minutes in the only bartender I saw asked about our server. Why? Open the little garage door so i can place my order there. Or maybe the other doors so we can sit at the bar where the sound level is below 176 decibels and enjoy our cheeburger. Someone from inside did come and give us a menu. Dont need the menu. Only thing we can eat there is a beyond burger. She left. We waited an additional 10 minutes for someone to come take our order. Didnt happen. 15 minutes is my cutoff. We left. Not sure if we will return soon. Gorgeous saturday, 3 yacky hostesses, one bartender(place is pretty full. I would say 50 or more peeps eating) no servers to the best of my knowledge and 1 runner. No bosses around and THE bartender who is always friendly was in the weeds. Tall ones...like over her head, yet we circle back to 3 hostesses, no open doors. If we got to sit at the bar, we will wait. I would say about $50 dollars lost, not including tip.
Do better CBCB!
The Two Crazy Vegans no longer approve and I am lowering my rating to 3 stars. I have worked in the restaurant world my whole life. Customers walking out because you cannot serve them in a timely manner while simutaneously standing around talking is not cool.
UPDATE! 9/7/2025 CBCB has been quite good the last two visits. Friendly and quick! Food is always good! We will return them to the two crazy vegans approved list! Our best luck has been to sit at the bar. We will continue this.
ps: kudos to the staff and fellow diners on this day for helping a customer who enjoyed the game a bit to much. Amazing!
Thanks for...
Read moreI'm legally blind and my 72-year-old Spanish speaking mother and I came to eat here as a recommendation from my family member. However, when I asked our waitress "Kimberly" if she could please assist me with the menu as I could not read it because I was legally blind or if she could possibly make a recommendation she did so, but when I asked her if she can tell me what the meals consist of (for example ingredients, what it came with) because as I had said before I can't see since I'm blind, she just said honey I'll give you more time and walked away. My mom & I struggled to figure out what to eat, but I got it. I also encountered another staff member who when bringing our food out I asked if she could tell me which meal was what and she was no help.
Finally at the end we figured out that we got charged an additional $2.50 each for what ended up being substitutions fees for french fries which I wasn't aware of. So I asked our waitress how is it that you charge me $2.50 each for French fries since french fries already come with a meal. For which she now said that the $2.50 was a substitution fee because apparently our burgers came with chips not french fries. So obviously I was really upset because had she just taken the few minutes to properly assist me we would have been aware of this. I had no problem with making the payment of the food. However, I do have a problem with bad service that this waitress provided to us because she couldn't take the time to assist me a Legally blind person and an elderly none English speaking person. And the worst thing is that she herself spoke Spanish. Do I recommend this restaurant? No! I know I will never go back to this bar when I come to visit family in AZ because this staff doesn't have empathy or respect for disable people. I did not ask for a manager because I just wanted to get the hell out of there since I was uncomfortable about the situation. It ain't easy physically, mentally, emotionally, phycology loosing your eyesight and peace like this do a great job of reminding you how broken /...
