With Great sadness I am extremely disappointed / unsatisfied with the service and food quality. As a native NEW YORKER I was recommended this place from a family member who announced that they have heard raves about the voxtail and urged me to try the Marietta location.
I have been vegan for some time, so I am familiar with the taste and texture variances as it relates to vegan dishes. What I can’t except is the unreasonable pricing topped with the Horrible customer service. I am an advocate for supporting black business but when. I tell u these ppl make went so far they have almost made it impossible to support!
I drove over 30 minutes to visit this Marietta square location. The restaurant is located in a market place alongside many other multi-cultural restaurant venders (cafeteria style dinning). While Bad Gyal vegan see to be the only black owned business in the hall, they did a great job misrepresentation. This stand was the only restaurant that was not visibly up and ready for the day. All other venders were open, presentation was set up, and they were happily waiting/ accommodating patrons. while this place had empty food casings and staff were in the back setting up, while another women was still turning on tv’s and programming the menu“. The sad part is they pro-claimed to be open and ready for business.
After waiting for the tvs to be programmed I was finally able to browse the menu. About 50 percent of the food on the menu was discontinued or had not yet been prepared. I was extremely determined to try the food and replaced logic with determination. I offered to wait around for dishes to be cooked and fully prepared, since I was told my meal would take probably 10 mins to prepare anyhow. I was told that dishes like the Mac and jeez had not even been started and would take over an hour to cook. So many items were out of stock and the women told me that she was waiting for her daughter to come in to prepare the dishes.
Because I was so hungry, and had drove so far I decided to compromise and order the 2 main dish, which comes with 2 mains and two sides. I ordered the voxtail, chicken wings with bbq jerk and side potato salad and cabbage. For 30 dollars the portions are horrible as the full the plate with that nasty uncle bens rice and beans with 4 thin pieces of wack salty voxtail, 4 chickens wings. For sides I had potato salad tha taste spoiled and filled of pickle juice. The cabbage was decent but salty. The food is so bad and the service is so Poor, I highly recommend staying away from this place and I say this with no malice. The staff were not rude, no one was mean to me, the food is just nasty, no professionalism, salty, and over priced,
I would recommend planted soul, or bar vegan, : soul vegan, almost anything but this vegan place. I had to go to a neighboring bender to get a falafel gyro as the food was terrible !
P.s. that potato salad stinks up the...
Read moreSitch. While detoxing & didn't plan my meals very well that day. Was @ the gym pretty late, thinking I'd just wing the evening w/ w/e I had @ home, but, my math just wasn't mathing. The day completely got away from me, and I found myself entering that hangry zone real quick =*{
Walking into the locker room, I grabbed my phone & searched Uber Eats for "vegetarian" options near me, hoping the food gods would bless me with something decent.
That's when I stumbled upon Bad Gyal Vegan. Her closest location was 19 miles away--but something abt it made me pause. I read two of her reviews & that was all I needed. I was SOLD. Short notice, unplanned, but this was exactly the kind of fuel I needed.
Uber delivered it from 19 miles away, and it took about 1.5 hours from the time I ordered to the moment it was in front of my door. Lemme add that I didn't get to it after being delivered for maybe another 45min. Grabbing from the doorstep ... I was having a total convo w/ my self asking...and YES, the wait was hella worth it!!!
I ordered the LP ChXn, rice & peas, and cabbage. And even while detoxing, let me tell U, it was absolutely delish. A full-on destination party for my taste buds.
ChXn Wings. The batter had the perfect crisp-to-lightness ratio (is that even a phrase? Because it fits). Not heavy, not greasy, and the crunch? Oh, it CRUNCHED. The seasoning was bold and flavorful, ust a touch on the salty side for my detoxing palate, but still very enjoyable. Nothing that water and willpower couldn't handle.
Cabbage. Perfectly cooked. It had that tender bite without being mushy or soggy. U could tell tons of care & attn went into not overcooking it & I appreciated every forkful.
Rice & Peas. The rice was cooked just right, and the peas had that ideal consistency, not too soft like butter, but also not firm or chalky. They held their shape while still being tender, which made the dish feel hearty and balanced.
Portion Size. The plate was portioned fairly. I held my composure & didn't overstuff myself (as tempting as it was to say the least) or starving...just that satisfying "I ate something GOOD" feeling that hits just right (IUKUK).
The real win? I've been to a few "vegan" spots lately that left me beyond disappointed, like, "Y did I do this to myself & expensive for nothing?" levels of regret. But THIS? This. Hit. Every. Mark. From flavor to portion to texture, Bad Gyal Vegan did NOT disappoint.
No PiX this time, told y'all I was hangry & basically salivating while scrolling the menu, LoL!
Already PLANNED my next order, for tmrw (don't judge me),...
Read moreThis virtually hidden vegan gem is nestled in a warehouse district that boast at least 2 other vegan eateries and at least 5 breweries just 5 minutes from the Atlanta Airport. You must order ahead on the website amd someone meets you at the side door with your order. There is no indoor seated area, but this food goes down so fast, there was barley time to sit. Being that they are famous for the “oxtail” and being it is my favorite vegan dish (never had real ox tail), it was an easy choice to try this dish here. It came with a very generous serving of rice mixed with peas and beans, I chose to have it served with sweet plantains and steamed cabbage. I stumbled into a brewery next store called Best End Brewing Co. and paired this feast with the pina colada ipa, and the island cuisine paired with the tropical fruit flavors were perfect. The “oxtail” was perfect consistency and the sauce was full of flavor, on top of the that the portions were large and filling. I also got an order of Chick’n wings and egg rolls for the flight home (yet to be eaten or reviewed). The warehouse park itself not only has many vegan and non eateries, but also many breweries and events too. Even more impressive about this seemingly intentional warehouse park is they foster community by having it decorated with local art, but they also have community fridge for those in need. This is one of the most special places I have yet to visit on my travels and vegan dining conquests…. Cheers to more businesses like these. #onelove I also must add the women working there are so kind and we’re very helpful. I hope to watch this business thrive, they have an online ordering system for out of state customer for certain items and I intend to place many orders as there things I want to try and I want to...
