I really had high hopes for this place. The area of town is unassuming and the building is very nice. When you walk in, there is a nice ambiance and feel for the restaurant. We arrived around 6 on a Saturday evening and the place was pretty full.
Everything started out well enough. The waiter seemed a bit stressed (which is absolutely understandable these days) and took a few minutes more than expected to come over to the table. We ordered the Arancini for an appetizer and it was fantastic. The vodka sauce that came with it was SO good. After waiting for some time, I finally received the cocktail I had ordered, which was also very good. The waiter took our order without writing it down and then we proceeded to wait almost an hour for our order while tables around us that came in later than we did, ordered, ate, and had left.
About 20 minutes before we got our food, the waiter came over and apologized for the wait and told us the manager was discounting our bill 50%. She came over as he left to tell us the same thing. The food finally comes and sadly, something happened that could have been very bad.
It was clear my partner's food was sitting for some time as mine was being prepared. He had the Short Rib and the menu description is not what he received. His was only bacon and tortellini in a congealed cheese/cream sauce and the short rib was overcooked. I ordered the vegetarian version of the Rigatoni that had sausage in the original version. Unfortunately, after eating most of the rigatoni, I realized that there was sausage in my VEGETARIAN dish in addition to items not on the menu.
I will say that I was not very happy and have to point out that if the dish was supposed to have been vegan, there would have been a very different outcome in this situation. I let a lot slide and always give the benefit of the doubt, but this was unacceptable. The waiter feigned apology and said he would go talk to the chef, to which he came back with no explanation.
I wanted to love this place, it seemed so cool. I certainly hope no one else has this experience and I understand that mistakes happen, however, the obvious situation of my food being forgotten to be made in addition to the very big mistake of the vegetarian dish having meat in it, I have to say, I will not be giving Bucci's...
Read moreThis place is so inconsistent in food quality, I’m moving on. I’ve visited numerous times and the food is just great or terrible, nothing in between. I really wanted to like this place, but repeated mistakes have continued. I’ve had the roasted red pepper cream rigatoni that was so overpowering with spices as to be inedible, and I like spicy. Last visit, the gluten free Margherita pizza was fresh and delicious, and I posted so. Tonight it was worse than frozen pizza quality and simply awful. It took 40 minutes from ordering until delivery to the table and only then did the server even mention they had to remake it, the first burnt and stuck to the pan. This pizza crust was undercooked, doughie, and lacked Roma tomatoes (grape tomatoes instead) and no basil. I seem to get a good meal once every 3 visits and I’m tired of the failures. The chef claims experience working in a Cameron Mitchell establishment. While that might be so, Bucci’s is not delivering similar quality. If you can’t reproduce quality every time, especially with pizza and pasta, what are you doing?? Bucci’s is no Cameron Mitchell experience. As to atmosphere, it’s noisy and I really don’t like ceiling fans blowing on me in winter. I have never witnessed the same servers working, there just seems to be turnover and declining service. Customers adjacent to me on Friday evening ordered to-go dessert, and it took 25 minutes to get to them. That’s poor service. If the owner cared, he would be on-site making great food rather than allowing the quality to suffer repeatedly. You can excuse some atmosphere for fantastic food, but that seems to be failing Bucci’s. When they opened, they were busy but no longer and I seem to understand why. Consistently great food quality would draw people in. Marketing email gimmicks like magic shows and lectures are a cover-up...
Read moreAmazing Food, Service and Atmosphere!!! Staying in Marion, OH this weekend for a softball tournament with my 13 year old daughter. Upon walking in the front door, we were very kindly greeted by the owner, Jason. He very graciously offered to give us the grand tour of this newly renovated establishment which as we learned, boast an exorbitant amount of local history dating back to when the building was build and used as the 501 train rail station. I would strongly recommend anyone looking to host an event to reach out to Bucci Italian Scratch Kitchen. The entire venue is absolutely amazing and many of the featured rooms and areas in the establishment can be viewed on their website. We did not have a reservation but were immediately accommodated and sat in their private dining room which was not being used at the time. Upon arriving at our table, we already had fresh warm bread and butter on the table. We were instantly greeted by (IMO) a five star level server named Brandon who provided an amazing level of overall service that you rarely experience in restaurants in this day and age. We ordered the Calamari and and a house salad appetizers which were excellent and Ravioli and Chicken Parmesan for our dinner entrées. I love Italian food and frequently visit Italian restaurants. The food at Bucci Italian Scratch Kitchen was absolutely amazing and was one of the best Italian meals I and my daughter have ever have had. We capped our meal off by sharing an amazing slice of strawberry cheese cake over great conversation. If you are in the area and are looking for amazing Italian food, tremendous service and a great atmosphere I strongly recommend you check out Bucci Italian Scratch Kitchen, you'll be...
