Amazing staff with great attitudes & attentiveness was on point. It was my birthday & even though we were the only party the staff were genuinely excited about our little celebration. They mentioned new additions to the menu so I happily tried one: beef hot pot. 5 stars on the broth for starters bc I could drink that juice for breakfast if it were possible!
All the ingredients were on point except the potatoes could've been cut just a little thinner so they could be fully cooked through. 4.9 stars though, only mentioning the potato fix bc staff were clear about wanting honest feedback to better fuel any needed improvement. I'm happy to oblige as I see a lot of potential here (a rare compliment these days).
Commendable and impressed are just a couple of words that come to mind when recalling my lovely first night at Chop Kitchen. I'll admit I had pretty much already resolved to a basic birthday family meal before the night even began but, to my surprise, we returned home with bright spirits & even brighter smiles (n2m full stomachs). Will be dining again soon, again: thanks for a...
Read moreIt's not the absolute best Asian food you can get, but it's easily the best Asian food you can get in the area. The Chop Kitchen flaunts itself as a "Chinese" restaurant but carries Viet, Japanese, and Thai dishes on the menu, making it a bit PanAsian style. I'm pretty simple and cheap, so I stick to the lunchtime sushi roll specials and lunch plates, which come with a selection of sauces and meats. I highly recommend the shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna/salmon rolls, and yellowtail roll. They are honestly pretty decent and solid for the asking price. I'd also recommend the general tso and black pepper beef because they will generally taste like what you expect to be eating. I like a place that is disorganized and chaotic with hit or miss service because it adds a bit of fun to the experience. The average diner may not like that in a restaurant, so I can see how some reviews are a bit low....
Read moreWe sat down to eat at the tail end of lunch time and everything was okay until they started fighting in the kitchen. There were five people in the restaurant eating and the woman was screaming and slamming stuff in the kitchen and even behind the sushi bar. Everyone in the restaurant was dead silent. She even shoved him when he was making someone's sushi. While they were fighting my friends sushi was sitting out on top of the bar. The food did not make up for the nauseating and unapitizing atmosphere either. It was the worst miso soup I've ever had, the tofu was the texture of jello, and my friends sushi roll tasted like it was from Walmart. He also had an awful scar on his face which I didn't think anything about when we sat down, but after she was screaming at him in the back for 30 minutes, made me even for concerned. I felt too sick from them fighting to even eat the only good sushi...
