I know this is a long review, but please read it. My husband and I happened upon this place one Sunday morning to get breakfast. It was a wonderful experience. The wait staff were all so friendly and the food was great. If that had been my only experience there I would have been very pleased. But what happened next was even more amazing. We live in northeast Iowa and was well over halfway home when I noticed one of my rings was missing. I had used the restroom before we left and I was convinced I lost it when drying my hands. My husband called the restaurant and asked them to look in the bathroom for a ring. The person who answered the phone went and looked and came back to the phone to say they didn't see it, but took his number in case it was found. This ring is probably about a $10 ring, but to me it meant so much more. You see, this ring belonged to my sister that I lost to cancer 4 years ago and I have worn this ring since she died. I was heartbroken. I called the restaurant myself later and they knew who I was when I explained my husband had called about a lost ring. They said they did not find it and no one had turned it in. I asked the girl on the phone with me, Michelle, if she would be willing to go through the garbage in the bathroom because I was convinced it was in there with a paper towel. She did not hesitate at all. She explained that they were busy at that time but would go in immediately and take the garbage out and set it aside for when she had time to go through it. I knew it was a long shot, but I was so appreciative that she was even willing to do that for me. It wasn't ten minutes later when I got a call back from her saying she had found it! I was in tears! It was then that I explained to her what that ring meant to me and she was just happy she could help me. She told me they would be open until later that evening and I could come pick it up. I told her I live a couple hours away and if she would save it for me I would come in the next week to pick it up. She immediately said she would mail it to me and would send it out on Monday. Well, on Tuesday I checked the mail and my ring was there! I cannot thank you enough, Michelle, and Daisy's Garage! Michelle is proof that there are fabulous people in this world and Daisy's Garage is so lucky to have her as an employee. I couldn't be happier that we, just by luck, stumbled upon Daisy's Garage while we were looking for a place to eat breakfast on a Sunday morning. God bless and I hope you have many great years in the business. And Michelle, please don't ever lose your sense of purpose in the world. Your kindness truly is...
Read moreThe cheese curds are delish! Everything was greasy. No frozen blended cocktails. Atmosphere was not bad not good either. Very blended age group. Our waitress had no personality nor did she smile. Good place to eat greasy food. Had to ask for togo containers and for our bill. Once she put that bill on our table she kept stalking by to see if we had put a payment down. Our billl for 3 ppl was 75.something. put down a hundred she asked if we needed change & yes we did she looked kinda funny about us not letting her keep the remaining for a tip. When she brings the change back she brings 1 twenty 1 five 1 dollar bill and remind you our bill was $75.some change. I left the $1 I picked up the 20 gave it to my friends girlfriend and pulled out a 10 so the tip was $16 the starting tip according to their reciept was $15. We didnt wait long for our food was the only thing we were pleased with. Back to the tip so there was $16 sitting there and our waitress kept lingering like she was ready to scoop her tip and finally she sez I gave you too much money back. I sed ok looking at her like what she sed it was a dollar I sed ok take it and we just ended up being short of the change. She could have left it alone and just tajen the money from the tip after we left and we never would of known, but she embarrassed herself by admitting she can't make change. Will not go...
Read moreNow knowing that Daisy's Garage is owned by the same owner as Cruz's Cafe, I had no worries whatsoever by choosing Daisy's as my dinner location for Monday the 13th.
Once again, I will have to come back time and time again just so I can eat each menu item.
Our server was a subject matter expert with every choice of food, but that wasn't the most impressive part. When we asked her about the appetizer known as the "Oil Spill", her reaction was priceless! Wide eyes, genuine smile from ear to ear, hands raise above the shoulders and fingers spread in excitement. All while she exclaimed, "That's my favorite thing on the whole menu! I love that one!" When the server is that genuinely excited about the food they serve, I have nothing to worry about.
The atmosphere is very laid back and subdued, with garage doors as decoration along with other street signs and various garage-themed items. Televisons are almost wall-to-wall, which makes viewing sports incredibly easy regardless of where you're sitting.
For my dish, I chose the Bad Boy Po-Boy sandwich. Kielbasa sausage, fried shrimp, lettuce, tomato, peppers, onions, on a hoagie roll. Absolutely amazing! The side of tator tots was a wonderful choice, and probably the best I've...
